"We wanted to replace couple windows at the house. We found universal windows direct, Almost a week ago they were supposed to install the new windows, but they brought the wrong size windows (way smaller than what we have now), long story short they want to install these smaller windows inside the old windows, some how retrofit the old windows and get these in. We were never told or explain this. We were expecting window replacement. Now we can not get a hold of them to see when or if they are bringing the right size windows. Oh yeah do not do fall for the loan deal with them, they charge you with the loan on day one, 8 weeks before they're supposed to deliver the windows. Now we have a loan and no windows. They took the money and the windows and ghosted us, been calling every day to talk to them for a solution and every time they are not available."

"On July 27, 2022 we contracted Residential Renovations (RR) to repair a portion of our roof that was leaking near the chimney. We also had them make enhancements to our roof/ventilation configuration to eliminate ice damns. The ventilation changes worked well and we did not experience any ice issues during the winter. The leaking portion of the roof is the issue. It states clearly in the contract the nature of the necessary repairs. The roof continued to leak throughout the winter. We contacted Scott (the owner) in January 2023 and he informed us that the repairs would be covered under warranty work. The roof was eventually fixed in March 2023. Additionally, it was disturbing to learn that those who worked on the roof knew exactly where the issue was located and commented to that point. The leak caused our ceiling to become stained and requiring repair. We have continued to contact Scott for resolution. After numerous attempts to schedule the repair, and multiple sub-contractors (appointed by Scott) the agreed upon ceiling repairs have not been completed."

Traditional clapboard siding, particularly with panels made from wood, is not a significant insulator on its own. However, you can keep your home cooler in summer and warmer with "insulated clapboard siding," which is a type of vinyl clapboard siding with a built-in foam insulation. You don’t need to remove old insulation before adding new insulation. As long as the old insulation is still in good shape—not wet, physically damaged, or moldy—then you can stack new insulation on top of old insulation to get a compounding effect. You can also mix different types of insulation, like adding blown-in insulation around existing fiberglass batt insulation or installing rigid insulation boards over rafters in your attic that already have batt insulation installed. If your existing insulation is very old or damaged, though, you’ll likely see more benefit from removing it and replacing it instead.

The amount of insulation you need will vary depending on where you live. Energy Star recommends certain minimum insulation values in different geographic regions. In most cases, however, even adding a little insulation is better than not adding any.

Durable materials suited for climate include aluminum for coastal areas or composite wood in varying environments for durability and minimal upkeep.

The easiest way to cover your HVAC ducts during construction is to use painter’s tape to affix plastic sheets over your vents and air returns in the area of your home where construction will take place. Keep in mind that closing off a portion of your system can put strain on your blower motor and air handler, so either shut the zone off or shut your system off while construction is underway. If you shut the zone, you can also hang plastic sheets over doorways to separate the construction area and keep dust contained.
