Small jobs welcome

"I highly recommend MOV Painting! My husband and I are so pleased with the results of our recent exterior staining and sealing project. After having our house professionally pressure washed, the wood exterior desperately needed rejuvenation. Owner Rick Ferrin worked directly with us to bring the exterior back to life, and his expertise was invaluable. The determination of his amazing crew was remarkable; even with frustrating rainy days, they persevered. Utilizing tall ladders and copious amounts of stain and sealer, the dedicated team completed the substantial job efficiently in just two days. The exterior transformation is stunning, and we will certainly be using MOV Painting again for all our future professional painting needs."

"Tom was great to work with. Finished a 150' green vinyl fencing with a gate in about 3 hours. Dealt with hard clay. The price was very good. Polite and knew what he was doing. Three dogs are very happy, as am I."

"Over the past 13 years I have had numerous contractors work on my 7 rental properties. but Gary Brown has surpassed them all in quality of craftmanship, time taken to complete the job, and price. For this project he and his crew did the following: Sided (vinyl) and reroofed a laundry room addition, reroofed one side of the main roof, power washed and stained the deck, reinstalled faulty gutters, and came up with a creative solution for the six columns that hold up the front porch, adding metal "feet," and wood trim and then painting them and the entire porch, making the neighbors very happy. The roof over the laundry roof had to be raised to give it a better pitch, something I hadn't thought of as a way to stop the leaking once and for all. Gary sent me digital Before and After pictures from his computer. This was great because I live 10 hours away and couldn't actually visit the site. These guys really are professional, and they completed everything in 4 days! They also did a few extra details that I hadn't asked for to make the total curb appeal especially sharp. They take pride in what they do. To see the Before and After photos, write to me at [email protected] Gary is a real pro. He's communicative, smart, techno savy, and a man of his word. I can't recommend him highly enough. As you can see, he does EVERYTHING, and that includes indoor projects. On a scale of 1-10, I give hims a solid 10."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Painting a damaged pool deck is not recommended if the substrate is crumbling, cracking, spalling, or otherwise actively deteriorating. Continuing deterioration will result in the paint also delaminating or flaking off the damaged surface. Minor damage such as chips or hairline cracks that are not actively deteriorating can often be repaired enough to paint over. A damaged pool deck with a lot of cracking and deterioration should be replaced for best results.

Beyond liquid rubber, homeowners can use sealants, stains, membranes, or tapes as waterproofing options. Oil-based or water-based sealants soak into the wood, creating a moisture-resistant barrier. Waterproofing stains—available in transparent, semi-transparent, and solid colors—add both protection and style to your deck. For heavy-duty waterproofing, deck membranes and waterproof tapes can be applied under the deck boards to direct water away from the structure below. Whatever method you choose, clean and prep the deck first to ensure the best, longest-lasting results.

Hot, intense sunshine can cause your stain to dry too quickly, which could lead it to look uneven or patchy. If you’re staining the deck during hotter months, it’s best to do it in the morning or evening once the wood has had time to cool down. If you’re staining in cooler weather with less sunshine, the time of day won’t make as much of a difference.

To make sure the paint won’t bubble as you apply it, make sure to paint on a day that’s cooler than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature is too high, the paint won’t dry evenly, which can result in bubbles forming on the surface. Another way to prevent paint from bubbling is to clean the walls, apply primer, and let everything dry completely before you begin.

Yes, it's a good idea to sand the wall with fine-grit sandpaper after spackling, especially if you plan on painting. You can do this by hand or using a sander, but the idea is to ensure the spackle is flush with the wall. Sanding will give your wall a smooth, uniform finish and help your paint and wallpaper stay put.
