"This is the second time I have had Paul do work on my driveway. He does a great job. He shows up when he says he will, he prepares the driveway, seals cracks and does blacktop, and cleans up afterward. I highly recommend him. Plus, he is a nice person."

Customers say: Quick response

"Just had driveway resurfaced this morning. Scott, the owner, was here with equipment and crew and had the job done in about 5 hours. Looks great, did exactly what we agreed on, and was appeared to go the extra mile to make the job perfect. Good investment, highly recommended company for price, quality, and professionalism."

"I called Woody to discuss setting up an appointment to get concrete steps fixed and for his opinion to see if my driveway needed to be repaved as well.  He answered on the first call, which was great!  But when I told him what I wanted, he says that they are really busy.  He asked me if I needed it right away and I said I didn't, but am shopping for quotes.  He said with the weather and the rain, he is too busy with other jobs.  This was fine with me because I could cross him off my list and look at other companies.  I'm sure another company will be happy to take my money.

"I wrote a review for this company last year and gave them an A rating. However this year the crack that they were supposed to fix opened up and is very deep. It goes across the middle of my driveway. I know we had a bad winter but I think the repair should have lasted more than 1 year. Also I found some black specs on my garage door from when they put down the sealer and splashed it on there. My garage doors were new so I'm not happy about that! I think they should put something against the doors so that doesn't happen to anyone else!!!

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The answer to whether or not you need to get a permit before you start your driveway can vary widely based on local ordinances and the scope of your driveway ideas. In most urban and suburban areas, a permit is needed before building a new driveway to ensure that a homeowner is using safe materials and proper drainage practices while designing and constructing a new driveway. In some rural areas, a homeowner may not be required to apply for a permit. When building a new driveway on your own, always check with your local building department to see if you need to request a permit. When hiring a driveway contractor, verify that the right permits are being used before driveway construction begins.

The cost to replace a driveway ranges from $8 to $15 per square foot, depending on factors that include material, size, and labor. If your driveway has deep cracks, potholes, or drainage issues (or if it’s simply past its prime), replacement might be the smarter investment over constant repairs. Resurfacing can be a cheaper alternative at $3 to $20 per square foot, but it won’t fix your driveway’s underlying problems.

Whether you should resurface or replace your asphalt driveway heavily depends on its condition. If the foundation is solid and the damage is minor, resurfacing is your best bet because it’s more affordable and faster than replacing the driveway. But if your driveway has foundational problems and/or severe damage, like large, deep cracks and potholes, then it makes more sense to replace it.

Recycled asphalt is not better than gravel, but can be a good alternative. It is inexpensive, but not as low-cost as gravel, and doesn’t tend to last as long. Recycled asphalt isn’t as dusty as gravel and is more environmentally friendly. The black look can be something that homeowners prefer. No matter what, ensure you choose an experienced recycled asphalt contractor.

A solid driveway starts with the right asphalt mix, and for most homes, dense-graded hot mix asphalt (HMA) is the most recommended. It’s both durable and flexible, making it a reliable choice for residential use. A properly compacted 2-3 inch layer on a well-prepared crushed stone base will hold up for years. In areas with harsh winters or scorching summers, a slightly modified mix can help prevent cracking and rutting. No matter the climate, quality installation is just as important as the material itself, so hiring an experienced contractor ensures a smooth, long-lasting driveway built to last.
