"Hired to replace my existing plaster ceilings with drywall, replace the old blown insulation in the attic with batt insulation, install a new ceiling fan including wiring, and rewire an existing ceiling fan. Juan and his guys are efficient and professional. They always showed up in the estimated time frame. They cleaned up the work area every day before they left and cleaned up at the end of the project. Extremely pleased with the finished work. Jason, the owner, is very responsive to emails, texts, and phone calls. Kitchen ceiling was cracked and falling the day after the estimate and I called Jason and he sent Juan out within an hour or so to brace the ceiling to keep it from falling. This was before I had even signed a contract. He had absolutely no obligation to do that, but I extremely appreciate it. It saved me a mess and damage to deal with. A finished basement does not always count as square footage, though this varies by state regulations. You may live in an area that allows for below-grade spaces to be considered in a home's official square footage. Anything having to do with the structure of your home, such as raising the ceiling, is usually the most expensive part of finishing a basement. Another project component that could be a surprisingly high expense is adding an exterior entrance. 

The cost of a walkout basement can be anywhere from $5,000 to $35,000.

Finishing a basement normally takes four to eight weeks, but the timeline depends on the size of your basement, your contractor's availability, and the extent of finishing work. Framing the basement will take three to five days, while adding electrical and rough-in plumbing can be another three to five days. Adding drywall can take five days, and floor installation can take two to three days. Final touches, like painting and adding trim, will take another week.

Joists and beams are both part of the flooring system above your basement, with the beams spanning the length of your home and getting support from vertical posts underneath, and joists usually spanning half the width of your home with no support posts underneath. The floor joists provide even support to the subflooring and flooring above, and they distribute that load to the beams. The beams then distribute that load down through the support posts to the foundation.

Building a bar in the basement will likely add value to your home, although it’s unlikely that you’ll see a significant return on investment (ROI) unless you plan on using the space for you and your guests. If you think you’ll use the area frequently, though, it’s probably worth the investment, and you should see a bump in value if or when you sell your property.
