"I was really impressed with the service of this organization. I needed to have them remove the old carpeting and install laminate flooring. They kept me informed and the work they did was excellent. The owner and I worked exceptionally well together. I am so impressed that I not only endorse there were and act as a reference but I hope to be able to use them in more projects."

"Designer Framing reached out right away and quoted my project without any high pressure sales tactics or commitment traps. They gave me an accurate scheduling wait time of just a few weeks, procured all the materials and delivered them in advance, and showed up to do the job when they said they would. A skilled and organized two-man crew methodically tore out and replaced 250' of wooden fencing in fewer than three consecutive days, and my new fence looks incredible. There were no surprises, no misunderstandings of what I wanted, no shortcomings, and no messes left behind. I'm very happy with how everything turned out and would not hesitate to hire them again."

"After almost six months and dozens of calls, emails, face-to-face meetings, and texts, the work I contracted Classic Exteriors to perform on my porch is complete. tl;dr I'm not entirely satisfied with their attention to detail or communication, but the team stepped up when it mattered and worked hard to solve the problems with their initial work. I hired Classic Exteriors to replace the boards on my porch and slope the boards away from my house after a different contractor botched a similar job and ghosted me after I tried to get him to fix it. The work Classic Exteriors performed wasn't very neat, but if you're not paying very close attention the porch looks good and is structurally sound. They came out at no cost after a couple of months of prodding to clean up some of the rougher cuts, which was nice of them to do. As we were coordinating the work to clean up some of the carpentry on the boards, we discovered that rain would leak into my basement from the porch and also that there was an area where the boards dipped, causing water to pool on the porch rather than shed away from the house. Classic Exteriors worked diligently to solve these problems and even did some complementary work to bolster the structure of the porch in spite of my offering to pay for additional materials. I'm not sure whether I'll contract them for additional work on my home, but I can at least confidently say that the folks at Classic Exteriors are good people who genuinely care about doing right by their customers."

"My house did not have a dishwasher before so after my dad and I installed one the next question was building a cabinet around it. Nick was very responsive and courteous. He came out on a Wednesday to give a free estimate and the job was completed by 2 pm on Thursday. He was quick, efficient and respectful of my house."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

Most contractors do not charge for meetings, but it can depend on the project, mainly if it includes detailed consultations or project planning. For general estimates, homeowners shouldn't expect to be charged. Always ask up front about meeting fees to avoid surprises and ensure you know what’s included in the process.

Many contractors prefer checks because they’re easy to track and have no associated fees. However, many also accept credit cards (though they might add a fee to cover their processing costs).

Yes, many repair services include blade sharpening as part of the maintenance package.

There are several mistakes you should avoid when using butcher block countertops. Don't place hot pots or pans directly on the surface, as this can crack the wood and cause permanent damage. Avoid leaving wet items sitting on the surface, and wipe up liquids as soon as possible to avoid stains.
