"Mike and Jim did an outstanding job leveling, reinforcing and and structurally improving my mother's deck. They made certain that my 90 year old mother could safely navigate outdoors on the deck which is her very favorite place to be! I am beyond satisfied with this finished Deck repair project by Mike and Jim of Tri-state Home Repair & Maintenance. They have exceeded all our expectations!"

"I am picky. I don't have a single complaint about clover creek construction. I wanted a screened in room to enclose our hot tub and allow us to eat dinner outside out of the elements and bugs. John and his team met my budget and exceeded my expectations. I initially had the room quoted by patio enclosures at $45k for what I got (yet with just screens rather than windows), but with a gables roof. John quoted me high $30's. I was so disappointed to not get the room for my budget, but john said he would figure something out. He presented the option of polycarbonate roofing material with a shed style roof that he could do for less that $20k! (My initial budget). I agreed and he was able to totally finish the room with windows for only slightly above the initial budget. His team stayed relatively on schedule and left the site in great condition every day. They even cleaned and refilled our hot tub for us! The finished product is beautiful with close attention to detail. John takes pride in his work, makes sure he understands your desires and is fair with the price. He forgot to include the price of the siding in the initial quote, so he removed the labor charges! I will use john again for any future construction."

"It starts with the people. From the top down, this company operates like a family. In addition to their skills, we were very pleased with how they respected our property, and how clean they left their workstations at days' end. Beautiful walk-in bathroom installed, new tile and wooden floors throughout, painting, wall repair, kitchen remodel, porch roof and a privacy fence around our back yard. We will definitely use them for future projects!"

Outdoor Kitchens questions, answered by experts

Cover appliances, clean surfaces regularly, and winterize plumbing before freezing temperatures.

No. Placing a built-in grill against the house is discouraged due to safety concerns. Building codes and regulations often require a minimum distance (typically 10 feet or more) between a gas grill and any combustible structure, including a house. Placing a grill too close poses a fire hazard and risks damage to the siding or structure, potentially leading to carbon monoxide buildup. It's essential to consult local building codes, follow manufacturer guidelines, and prioritize safety by positioning the grill at a safe distance, ideally in a well-ventilated outdoor kitchen or designated grill area.

Deciding whether to buy a prebuilt fireplace kit or build one from scratch comes down to aesthetics, available space, and budget. Many homeowners like the convenience and lower cost of prebuilt options—around $1,500—versus the involved planning and construction of a larger fireplace. Another bonus: you can usually move prebuilt units. Custom projects are more common when homeowners have access to a larger budget and more area in the yard to place the fireplace.

Summer kitchens can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $50,000 to build. The average price is on the lower end of that range, however, at $15,500. The typical homeowner is more likely to pay between $6,000 and $25,000 than approach the $50,000 mark. Materials for framework, flooring, and countertops are the most expensive type of expenditure, with appliances coming in second. There are a few additional costs that may not immediately come to mind when planning an outdoor kitchen, some of which include: permits, routine maintenance, pest control, and winterization.

If you plan to have a refrigerator or other appliances that require electricity, you will need an electrical outlet in your outdoor kitchen. Be sure to comply with all National Electrical Code® (NEC®) codes for electrical wiring and outlets in kitchens. If you do not plan to install a refrigerator or any other appliances that require electricity as part of your outdoor kitchen features, then you do not need to install electrical outlets. However, it is a good idea to install at least one electrical outlet should you decide to use any appliances that require electricity.
