I contacted HRS to let them know what I had found and they came out to investigate. They were in agreement that the quality of workmanship was not acceptable. HRS quickly agreed to take out all of the previous repairs and start over. I had to insist that the subcontractors were no longer allowed on my property. HRS did strive to make sure that I was satisfied with the finished product in the end though.
The most memorable part of this fiasco is when the subcontractors that HRS hired called me to inform me that they were planning on filing a lien against my property due to the fact that they were not being paid by HRS for the work performed on my property. HRS did provide me a written letter that they would assume all legal issues with the subcontractor concerning this event.
Overall this was a very poor experience.
work around many rain days but communication was excellent. Matt Winard
supervised job. He was excellent, very honest in what could and could
not be done in our repair work. Delivered on what could be done. Workers
on projects were very professional. I recommend them.
"We at HRS stand behind our work. We offer a one year warranty on our work. This is industry standard. We have made every attempt to repair any and all items brought to our attention by this customer and continue to do so even though we are well outside the warranty period. We believe the problem started with the materials provided to HRS by the customer. An American Standard bathtub and wall set were purchased from Lowe's, by the customer, for HRS to install. We were not at all involved in the material selection process. After several phone calls to American Standard and meetings with Lowe's employees, it was discovered that the wall set we were provided to install was not designed to be installed with this particular bathtub. In fact, American Standard does not offer a wall set designed to go with this bathtub. We initially gave the best possible effort to make this work including multiple trips to the job site to do so. After this discovery, HRS incured all material and labor costs to remove the wall set and install porcelain tile in it's place. The total expense is over $1100.00 in materials and labor. We did not have to do this but went the extra mile to satisfy our customer. The existing bathtub glass door does not fit correctly now. This is due to the existing wall set being thicker than the newly installed porcelain tile. We did make every attempt possible to make the existing bathtub glass door work properly in this new application in an attempt to save the customer any additional money for purchase of a new bathtub door. It is just not possible. We have offered to contact the bathtub glass door company and/or Lowe's in an attempt to get new door rails to solve this issue. We have also offered to remove any caulk found by the customer to not be acceptable and recaulk. "Guy #3" did come back to look at the work and discussed the above directly with the customer. He was told that he would be allowed to make good on the above offers. As to the customer's complaint of asking for the owner to be directly involved, this is not our protocol. Our business assigns project managers to each of our projects. Having an owner get directly involved would only undermine the job. We fully rely on our project managers. HRS feels that we have truly gone above and beyond for this customer, to the extent that most other contractors would not have gone. There are only very minor issues that need to be resolved at this point and we are fully willing to address these issues. However, we will not be willing to pay $1,200.00 to the customer to have another contractor come in to finish these minor issues."
"Thanks for posting this comment on Angie's List. We value all types of feedback here at HRS. On this particular project, we had a homeowner that kept modifiying the scope of work as well as redirecting all employees and sub contractors. His additions and directives caused us losses in time and our ability to respond to our other customers. Further, it was the customers assumption that he could change the original scope of work to whatever he deemed and that these changes would be preformed at no additional cost. Finally, it was HRS that terminated our contract with the customer. Please feel free to contact me personally if this even warrants further discussion."
