You can fix this problem with more concentrated watering at the edges of the lawn as it takes root. However, continuing brown problems or brown areas on the inside of the lawn are signs of a problem. The lawn could need more water, or the young grass could be under attack from fungi or other diseases.

Typical playing greens on professional circuits are around 1,000 to 1,500 square feet. But it’s not likely that you’ll be trying to hit it from 200 yards out—most residential putting greens range from 200 to 600 square feet. A small DIY putting green kit is around 100 square feet; a good option if you're tight on space.

Most professionals can install some putting greens in between one day and one week, but it depends on the size of the project and the complexity of the design. A small, simple putting green can take only a day to install, while a 2,000-foot-green with hills, slopes, and other challenging site features can take over a week. A DIY installation on flat, level ground will take a few days.
