"I had a great experience with this contractor. I needed a quote on many projects and they were very versitile. I ended up only needing them for a painting project, but they did a great job, no hassle, they were the first and just about the only one who responded to my request on H.A. The price was very fair and the quality and efficiency of the work was greater than my expectations. I will continue to use this company in the future."

"good.  Little delay in making arrangements, but came in a timely manner and did a great job.  Thoroughly powerwashed the deck, let it dry and returned to stain and seal deck.  Looks great

"Four Seasons Painting came in to paint all of the walls in our house. We were changing dark colors to light colors. They found bits of old wall paper, damaged walls and paint on the ceilings after the first coats. Tim rolled with it, fixed everything, without additional charges, and transformed our dark house into something beautiful!! He didn't even hesitate when I wanted to add painting all of the registers to match the baseboards. He is a meticulous, hard working honest man. We love our house because of the work they did. I highly recommend Four Seasons Painting to everyone we meet! Thank you, Tim and Dominic."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The best exterior paint for the job of painting your front porch depends on the material you’ll be painting. Acrylic paint is often recommended for a wooden porch as it’s durable and easy to apply. If your porch is made of concrete, you’ll need to find a formula suited to that material.

When staining a deck, don’t skip surface prep, avoid staining damp or dirty boards, and don’t apply stain in extreme heat, cold, or wet conditions. Never overload the wood with a stain, as too much can cause tackiness or peeling. Also, don’t forget to test a small area first to ensure the color and finish look right.

It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat.

Various kinds of substances and deck preservatives act as protective coatings for wood to prevent rot, which is caused by water getting into the wood and creating cracks and splits. Stains, paints, and sealants are the three best options to protect your wood, but there are also oils, varnishes, and waxes available. You’ll need to reapply sealant at least once per year, and you should inspect your wood deck regularly to look for signs of damage or general wear and tear.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.
