"They did an exceptional job.  From start to finish I was completely impressed with Chris.  They did a phenomenal job and in labor I paid less than $2000 to do the work.  They started approximately on January 23rd.  Chris is coming back in August to build me a bathroom down here and he's also going to close off my laundry room.  I spent less than $2000 in labor only and that has nothing to do with the materials.  I wanted to buy my own material because I wanted to get my gas free."

"When Mark showed up at my front door, I was a bit apprehensive. I guess one should never judge a book by the cover. After discussing his game plan, I could tell he was very knowledgeable. Not only did he install the ventilation fan in our upstairs bathroom, but he also fixed the ducting for the existing fan in our master bathroom and repaired an outlet on the backsplash. He was very polite and clean, had deep experience to draw from, and left my home better than he found it. His prices are reasonable, especially for working involving crawling through my attic. I would highly recommend Mark Allen of Handy Hands Repair any time of day, and day of the week."

"Lucas was excellent! He made time in his weekend schedule to fit us in, even though he had a full day. He got here early, was personable, professional and knowledgeable. He did a high quality job on the repair, and even though that task took a little longer, he still asked if we needed anything else looked at. He quickly adjusted the drawers on a dresser for us. We will most definitely use Lucas for future contracting needs!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!"

"Milex Constuction came to my home the same day I called for an estimate. Mr. Alex was very thorough in explaing how the work would be done. I feel they listened to my concerns & paid special attention when working in those areas. They are very knowledgeable, not only about product and process, but also handling insurance claims. The job started out a little rough because of the weather. It turned out to be the hotest 2 days of the summer! Still everything was completed in 3 days and the clean up was treated just as important as the roofing job itself. The workers are a dedicated bunch who worked till dark when needed. All the guys are very polite and extremely dedicated to their work. Mr Alex's referal to the exterior painters was also a spot on choice. Now that the outside is done, Time for some inside drywalling!

Gate Repair questions, answered by experts

For homeowners concerned about security, an electric gate may offer peace of mind. Electric gates will require a code or remote to open, so you don’t have to worry about young children getting out of the yard or someone breaking onto your property by simply swinging open the gate. But because it needs power to operate, installing an electric gate will be more complex and expensive.

Installation typically takes 1-3 days, depending on the gate type and site conditions.

In most cases, you will need a permit to install a new driveway or property gate. An exception might be if you are simply replacing an existing gate. Before issuing a permit, your local municipality may require a site plan or survey to verify property lines and prevent encroachment on a neighbor's property. Permits for a gate typically cost under $100. Be aware that corner properties may have additional restrictions on gate height or style. It's wise to confirm permit requirements with your local building department or your gate installation company, which can usually handle the entire permitting process for you.

Yes, driveway gates can help secure your home by deterring burglars from accessing your property. Climbing a gate slows down burglars while also attracting attention to your gate. If you live further down your property and want to increase security, you can also install a gate security camera that connects to your gate and monitors the area for suspicious activity.

Gates are often stuck halfway due to physical blockages or damage to the rollers, wheels, or tracks the gate runs on. Check to make sure there are no obstructions before considering that the motor might be burned out or malfunctioning somehow. Hopefully, the issue is simple, and you can remove it with a broom or your hands, but if your gate is stuck and there's no obvious reason why, you should call a pro to diagnose the issue.
