"I hired HandyPro to paint the interior of my house. They helped me design a color scheme that really complimented the cabinets and the flooring and the final result is beautiful. They are real professionals at Handyman! So happy I chose them for the job."

Customers say: Quality work

"I’ll start by simply saying that Jim is amazing! We just moved into our new home from the other side of the country and were overwhelmed with projects and didn’t know anyone in town, so I downloaded the Angi app. Jim called right away and we scheduled a walk through for the first of many projects on our list. He quoted a very reasonable estimate and fit us in promptly and then finished the demo of our kitchen cabinets in one afternoon! He is a seasoned expert about all the necessary subjects - construction, plumbing, electrical work, etc. And on top of it all, he’s a delight to work with - professional, trustworthy, friendly, and positive. He even teaches as he goes, which was an added bonus as well. We are so grateful that we found Jim and look forward to working with him again on our long list of projects! We highly recommend Jim and his company! Thank you, Jim!"

I’m 36 year old, have been doing mainly industrial maintenance the past 6 years or so. Love fixing and putting together all kinds of different things. Not as experienced with home improvements but I have done my fair share, and am never afraid to take on a challenge. I can say that no matter what you throw at me, I will find a way to complete the job and make sure the customer is satisfied.

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

Generally, you should run your pool pump for eight to 12 hours a day to keep your water clean and chemical levels balanced. The ideal runtime can vary depending on your specific pump type. While running the pump as much as possible is ideal for cleanliness, it can increase electricity costs. To save money, you can run the pump strategically during non-peak hours when electricity is cheaper, which is often in the evenings or at night. The hours do not need to be consecutive.

Yes, it's possible to make an aboveground zero-edge pool. Note that it's most common to build an inground one, but, if you raise the deck and surrounding poolscape, you can install an aboveground version. Keep in mind, if you need to haul in dirt, it can significantly raise your land prep costs.

It’s a good idea to call in a pro to fill in your pool, because there are many potential hazards to doing it yourself. Unless you’re careful, you can damage your septic tank, plumbing pipes, and sprinkler lines. It’s also possible to damage your sewer connections, utility lines, driveway, landscaping, and sidewalk.

Yes, swimming in a pool with high calcium hardness is considered safe as long as you have sufficient chlorine and pH levels to keep bacteria growth under control. The main issue with high calcium hardness is that it damages your pool through rust and corrosion. However, if your water is hard enough to corrode your pool, you might want to consider finding methods to make it safe for drinking at home.

High alkalinity, which is above seven on the pH scale, is the result of improper chemical levels in the pool. Each chemical you use to keep your pool clean has a different pH, so a ratio that isn't optimized for your pool size may cause the number to go above 7.8, the high end for a good pH range in most swimming pools.
