"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 - Excellent Electrician Work! I had a fantastic experience hiring this electrician for several upgrades in my home. He installed new LED ceiling light fixtures, put in a bathroom exhaust system, updated the old wiring to meet city code, and reconfigured multiple light switches — all for a very reasonable price. From the beginning, he was clear and upfront about what the job would entail. He took the time to explain everything in detail, and there were no surprises along the way. The work was done neatly and efficiently, with great attention to detail. He delivered exactly what he promised, on time and within budget. You can tell he takes pride in his work, and it really shows in the final result. Everything looks and functions perfectly. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing electrical work — truly excellent service!"

"Installed a ceiling fan in 30 minutes. Informed me that the previous ceiling fan installed by another electrical company was installed without all the screws and the ceiling fan was the wrong type for a slanted ceiling fan it was a dangerous situation for me. He was courteous, prompt, competent and professional. He does maintenance work also and I hired him for some other projects"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Yes, ceiling fans come with a few other features that help with function, style, and convenience. Multi-speed fans can give you specialized control over the airflow. Consider getting one with an integrated light to save ceiling space. Some ceiling fans come with a remote control that enables you to change direction without climbing a ladder. Of course, you can also consider installing a wall switch to enjoy that convenience.

There’s no reason why you can’t install a ceiling fan anywhere in your home, such as in living rooms, offices, bedrooms, and dining areas. Most bathrooms already have ventilation and don’t need a ceiling fan. For safety purposes, avoid installing a ceiling fan where the blades will be less than eight feet from the floor, near bunk beds, or anywhere else they may hit nearby objects.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

Whether you can install a ceiling fan yourself depends on if you're replacing an existing fixture or installing one where no wiring exists. If you are replacing an existing fan, an experienced DIYer may be able to do the job, which can save on labor costs. This work typically doesn’t require a permit, but there’s always a safety risk when dealing with electrical components, so hiring a pro is still a good idea, especially if you aren't handy. Keep in mind you may need a special ladder for high or vaulted ceilings. However, if you are installing a new ceiling fan where there is no current fixture, you must hire a licensed electrician. In most areas, it is required by law that a professional runs new wiring and pulls the necessary permits. Attempting to install wiring yourself can be dangerous and a code violation.

If you’re replacing an old fixture with a ceiling fan, you usually won’t need a permit, but if your electrician runs new wiring for the fixture, you likely will need a permit. Building permits are necessary in most municipalities if you’re making changes to your electrical system, so even if you have partial wiring run to the area and need new wiring installed for added functionality, you’ll probably need a permit. Your electrician should be able to let you know if you need one, and they’ll typically file the paperwork for you.
