"We hired Trash Daddy Junk Removal service after shopping around for someone to do a job that nobody in our family was looking forward to after the death of our mother.  Mom was a pack rat to say the least, and we knew it would be a big job to empty the house of all those "treasures" she had collected and piled in most every corner of the home, including the full size basement. One phone call to Trash Daddy and our concerns were history.  Mike Rainsberger, Owner & Operator of the Columbus Trash Daddy location, was there when promised and lived up to his estimate, although I'm sure they collected much more than they agreed to haul.  Nevertheless, Mike worked from 9am to 4:30pm, skipped lunch and breaks, and got the job accomplished. And for those who don't know much about Trash Daddy's service, Mike also swept the floors in the bedrooms and basement before leaving.  Beats having to haul everything yourself, and have to also sweep up afterwards.  They don't do carpets however, but I'm not complaining.  No sweat... we'll take care of that little detail.  Just wanted everyone who reads this to know that little detail so they don't give Mike any grief over that part of the job.  Truthfully, you have a similar job, call Mike at Trash Daddy Junk Removal.  In Columbus their number is 614-896-0282.  A+ job, Mike.  Thank you so much."

"I chose a window of time of 8-10 am for the service. They called at 9:15 to say they would be there in 20 minutes, and they were. Evan and Cody removed the desk in less than 15 minutes. They were friendly, efficient and considerate of my home. I highly recommend them and plan to use them again."

"Joi was wonderful!  She came over the day I called her to take a walk through with me and give me an estimate.  She took note of my "problem" clutter areas and suggested ideas for organization which were very helpful.  She explained to me how she approaches the job and the cleaning supplies she would use to make sure they were going to be okay.  She came back only two days later and by the end of the day my house looked wonderful!  She brought two helpers who worked on organizing my closets and then assisted in the cleaning.  She was so nice and did such a great job, I would definitely recommend her to anyone."

"This was my third move with Moving Ahead Services, and it went just as well as the first two moves. Each time I've used their services, the communication has been fantastic. It has been easy to contact them if I have any questions or concerns prior to the move. They call the day before to confirm things and see if you need any last minute boxes or other items. Luckily, they were able to bring a mattress bag for me when I realized I didn't have one. Each of the crews I've worked with have been polite, personable, and efficient. No items have ever been broken or damaged in the moves. They take care to wrap everything nicely and protect the items, but they do it very quickly. I will definitely be using them in the future if their services are required."

Garbage Removal questions, answered by experts

If you cook a lot or have a larger household, a garbage disposal can be worth it, since it streamlines your kitchen duties and helps to keep food waste out of landfills. It helps to know the cost of garbage disposal installation before you make your decision. The average price is about $400, but you can expect to pay more for higher-end models or if you hire a pro to do the job for you.

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.

Whether it's worth repairing your garbage disposal depends on its age and the specific problem. Generally, if the unit is eight years old or younger, repair is a good option. For minor issues like a bad seal or a simple jam, a repair can be inexpensive, sometimes under $10. However, if the motor is broken (a repair that can cost $150 or more) or the unit is getting old, it's often more cost-effective to replace the entire disposal.

While the drain connection for a garbage disposal is nearly universal and fits standard sink drain holes of 3 1/2 to 4 inches, the size of the disposal unit itself is not. You must have enough space in the cabinet underneath your sink to accommodate the disposal's housing. A larger model may not fit in a compact cabinet or if the existing plumbing is arranged in an unusual way. Before buying a new garbage disposal, measure the available space under your sink. If you are replacing an old unit, it's often easiest to choose a new model of a similar size.

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.
