Small jobs welcome

"They arrived on time and explained the process for removing asbestos tape from our heat vent pipes. Also that they would seal the taped areas that could not be removed. Estimated the job would take 5 hours but weâ re able to complete in less time. They had us inspect the finished work. We were very satisfied and relieved to have this job done."

"The Dutch team was extremely professional, extremely thorough and very clean. Their price was reasonable and they deserved every penny of. I would recommend them in a hart beat, over any other company that gave me an estimate. Thanks Mark and Ed!"

"Awesomeness - Dilante Moore and his friendly crew arrived on time and immediately started the abatement process steps to remove several square feet of 9x9 asbestos gray color tiles in the basement of my daughters recently purchased home that was built in the year 1946 (The tiles were hidden under carpet and was not disclosed before the house was purchased). The job entailed complete removal of all asbestos tiles and black mastic adhesive. Five hours elapsed and 'No more tiles' :) All concrete surface revealed and the air quality check by the lab came back negative - all Clear. Afterwards, Dilante and his crew cleaned the area of all debris and even dust on surfaces prior to the abatement process. Dilante was kind to check a few other areas of the house such as the attic and kitchen vinyl flooring, which the latter might contain asbestos fibers. Another test will determine whether Dilante returns for another round of asbestos mitigation. Much appreciated team Perfectos."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

When asbestos fibers become airborne, they enter a person's respiratory system. These fibers scar and damage the lungs and often lead to serious cancers like mesothelioma. Like many dangers in the house, asbestos isn’t easy to see when it could be causing serious damage. The amount of time exposed, combined with the person’s tolerance for asbestos inhalation and the amount inhaled, will all contribute to health problems.

Asbestos itself does not typically leak from a roof. However, if an asbestos-containing roof is damaged or deteriorated, it can release asbestos fibers into the air. This can occur when the roof is disturbed, such as during maintenance or repairs, or due to weathering over time. Exposure to airborne asbestos fibers can be harmful to health, so it is important to address any damaged asbestos roofs promptly and safely.

Although the use of asbestos has declined since the 1980s, it remains in several different types of building construction materials for insulation and as a fire retardant. Typically, asbestos can be found in materials such as ceiling and floor tiles, heat-resistant fabrics and coatings, and roof shingles. You may also find asbestos in textured paint and patching compounds.

Power washing asbestos siding can be hazardous and isn't recommended. The power washer's high pressure can disturb the siding and release harmful asbestos fibers into the air. Rather than attempting to DIY it, hire a professional trained in asbestos handling to tackle any exterior cleaning.

Typically, homeowners insurance does not cover asbestos removal or abatement. Most policies exclude coverage for pollutants, contaminants, and hazardous materials, which includes asbestos. Because asbestos is often considered a pre-existing condition in older homes, its removal is usually viewed as a maintenance expense rather than an insurable loss. However, there is a key exception: if asbestos-containing materials are discovered or disturbed due to a covered event, such as a fire or storm, your policy may cover the abatement as part of the necessary repairs. For example, if a storm damages your roof and an insurance adjuster discovers asbestos while inspecting the damage, the policy might pay for the removal cost. If removal is not covered and is outside your budget, you might consider encapsulating the asbestos. The viability of this option depends on the condition of the contaminated materials. It is recommended to speak with an asbestos abatement specialist to understand your options.
