Steve and Darryl from Ark Moving & Storage did a fabulous job moving my 91-year old mother today. They came on time and moved efficiently. They took good care of all boxes and furniture, wrapping each piece of furniture. They didn't waste any time, which impressed me as when Bekins moved our household years ago, they moved like molasses. Communication was professional, the cost was $200 less than what was quoted by Two Men and a Truck. I would gladly tell anyone that I know in need of a moving company to call Ark Moving & Storage.

I would highly recommend this company. It started with my first phone call and spoke with Shelley. She was professional but very engaging. She set up a date and time that was convenient for us for the estimate. Steve came out and was exactly right on time, went room by room, asking what exactly needed to be moved and gave us the time estimated to complete the moving job. Steve and one other mover arrived on our moving date right on time and the move was completed in the exact amount of time that Steve had estimated. Not one thing was damaged or broken. They were amazing! I would like to thank Shelley for working with us after our first buyers for our home fell through and I had to re-schedule and I would also like to thank Steve and the other moving person for a job well done! If you are on the fence about who to hire - well, definitely hire Ark Moving!!

My wife hired this company to move a portion of furniture from our household from Akron, Ohio to Doylestown, Ohio on May 29, 2018. My complaints are regarding the following issues with Ark Movers: (1) This company never provided us with a written contract, inventory list, pamphlet on our rights and responsibilities when we move, insurance information or dispute resolution process despite verbal and electronic requests. All we have is a Bill of Lading which does not have a reference number or DOT number on it. (2) This company has damaged our property. Over sixty days have passed, and these damages are still unresolved. An agent committed to follow up with us over one month ago, however, we have not received a response to date. (3) The primary agent we corresponded with was argumentative and did not carry herself in a professional manner as one would expect from an organization rated highly on Angie's List. My wife booked a move with Ark Movers approximately 3 weeks prior to our move. My wife received a verbal and email estimate for the move and indicated booking was "effortless" and "pleasant", however we were issued no paperwork or contract. Two representatives showed up with a truck at approximately 9:30am at our residence in Akron, Ohio. I was present and witnessed the following incidents at the Akron residence: -The movers were struggling with items through the doors (rubbing/scraping was visible and audible). I asked them if they would like me to remove the doors from the house and they declined. Damage is present on both the front and side doors of the house, as well as the wall surrounding the side door. -I witnessed the assistant mover/helper drag my wife's treadmill across a concrete floor without a blanket or wheels. -I witnessed the assistant mover/helper back a dolly into my Haulmark box trailer parked in the driveway. Nothing was said to me and I had to confront him. Upon confrontation, this mover's response was "Is it a big deal or something?". -I am missing one of my personal moving blankets I had protecting an item and believe it may have been mixed up or taken by one of the movers. I phoned ahead to my wife and asked her to supervise the movers in the new house. She witnessed the following incidents in Doylestown: -The movers used two doors to enter the residence. One mover covered a door handle with a towel, while the other did not. The door handle not covered by a towel left an imprint in the wall. -Walls and trim (both indoor and outdoor trim) were hit. -Again, the movers declined to remove the basement door before bringing objects through and gauged the door with a chest freezer. The movers indicated that the agent at the office, "Shelley", would take care of the damages. We noted the damages on their copy of the "Bill of Lading" and paid in full. Once paid, the representative’s attitude changed towards us. My wife called Shelley that day (I was in the room). She had the audacity to blame damage to the walls/doors on us because my wife asked if she could close the doors as the movers took one of their many breaks (they are hourly). Shelley then told my wife "Honey, if you ever move again, it's worth the dollar or two you would spend in air conditioning to leave the doors open". Shelley also asked if we could get our builder to do free touch ups for us and said she "did us a favor" by providing us with moving services in our location. She blamed the damages to the box trailer on an "untrimmed bush" and the "driveway not being entirely clear" (there was more than enough clearance). This call ended with Shelley telling my wife that she had to talk to one of the movers who was still out on a job, and stating she would follow up with us. My wife had attempted to get in contact with Shelley multiple times after this point with no success. Since she was frustrated, she asked me to intervene. I left a voicemail with Shelley on June 12, 2018. She later called my wife back, leaving a voicemail stating she "does not appreciate my accusations". I was able to get in touch with Shelley later that day and informed her we were concerned since multiple weeks had gone by with no followup or definite commitment of action from her. She asked for the contact information of our builder. I gave her the contact information of the painter who our builder uses. I also addressed the damage done to the box trailer. She provided three different responses on the same call. She first indicated "we should share responsibility”. Then, she told me she "will not pay for it”. Finally, she mentioned she would "get in touch with a mechanic friend of hers to see how much it may be worth and get back to me" and "might give me a "couple bucks" for the damage, however, not to expect anything like $100 or more. Shelley never accepted accountability, offered an apology or committed to make things right. When I stated I wanted the dent pulled and gauge filled on the damaged box trailer, she asked me if I was serious, proceeded to tell me it is a "small scratch" and implied the trailer is not worth that much because she believes it looks rusty and "the tires aren't even inflated". Shelley did, however, commit to follow up with us - it appears we have not received any communication from her since the June 12th call. My wife and I called the painter multiple times, and he too has not received any communication from "Ark Movers". I now have several hours invested in procuring estimates and trying to get this matter resolved. The estimates I have received for damages exceed the cost of the move, and we still do not have a formal process from this company to proceed.
Response from Ark Moving & Storage
"We are sorry you were unhappy with the move. I was called by your wife for the move and told her we do not work in that area. She called back again, her parents refered us. I agreed to. As far as the 3 minor paint scratches, we agreed to repair we did say the furn. was to big to go into the basement but took it down there. Because we do not work in the area we asked for the Builders name and info so we could call his painter. I have never used the word honey when talking to a cust. What I did say is for the next move to just leave the door open. This way the movers do not need to keep setting down and picking the furn. up to open and close the door. The few cents you save in air cond you are wasting by costing the movers time and risking more damage to things like the wall or possibly furn which is what happened. Now the husb. was there and asked the movers for a favor. He had a trailer in the drive with stuff :a pool table that he asked them to unload. This was not part of the move added on by the customer. WE DO NOT move pool tables. They were put on the spot so agreed to do it. All of our men know to keep customers happy plus they are trying to save their tip. The trailer was in the drive with bushes around it so no room to move. They were struggling with the slabs and one of the bushes whacked the dolly so it hit the trailer causing again a very small scratch. A little bigger than a quarter. Now I agreed to touch this trailer up I had a mechanic willing to go out there and do it. He wanted the entire trailer repainted. The trailer is 20 yrs old. We went above and beyond on this job. Even with the extra work to do we came in just a few bucks over the top of the est. I have offered a fair settlement and even the BBB found this man to be rediculo We agreed to fix the small damages but he is not willing to settle at a fair price. I wish I could a post a pic. of the damages and the trailer. Thank you and as you see this is why people ruin things for other people. My men and I did a favor and look where it got us."

Ark did an amazing job. They gave us three different quotes: 1) they pack everything and move it 2) they move only the heavy items, 3) they move the heavy items AND boxes we pack. Their estimate was within the range of estimates we received from other companies, but they were more informative when they did the estimate: things to consider before moving, ways to pack things, etc. We opted for #3. Prior to the move, we had several exchanges with Shelley, and she was responsive and very helpful in setting expectations for moving day and helping us prepare. On moving day, the movers arrived on time, and they were efficient and kind. When we got to our destination, there were issues getting keys for the residence and being able to move in. Ark Moving guys were patient and helpful in the process -- beyond the call of duty. When we were finally able to move in, everything was placed perfectly in the house (i.e. centered on a wall better than I had pictured, a couch situated better than my plan), and not one item was broken or damaged. I would use Ark again and again -- they exceeded my expectations!

The move went incredibly smooth. The quote was accurate (it actually ended up being a little bit less this past time). We have actually used them to move us multiple times in the past and every time has been absolutely perfect. They are always on time, they are always fast, everything is always perfect. When moving to a new house I already have enough to worry about. It's nice to know that this is one huge piece that I do not have to. Using Ark movers is seriously a game changer. (Let's be honest, moving usually... well, lets say its not the most enjoyable experience) Those guys, I'll tell you, work incredibly hard (Definitely harder than my buddies and myself when we'd help each other move when we were younger) and are very easy to work with. I have absolutely nothing but great things to say about every single time I have used them. Thanks for making moving easy!!!

My move could not have went more smoothly! The movers are professional and quick, careful and thorough. They arrived on time, put floor covering down and swept the sidewalk they were using to move my possessions before beginning the move. They covered all furniture and moved each piece carefully but quickly. The men worked as a team, and it was apparent they knew exactly what they were doing. I truly appreciated their skills. I will use Ark Movers again when I find a home.

They did a really good job. I give them top marks!

They were fast and efficient. They didn't seem to check their email well. You can call and they will talk your ear off but not good at email.

You are correct about the emails- I get so busy on the phone that many times it is not until the afternoon untill I get to my emails and with all the junk that needs to be deleted it takes a little bit. Sorry about that!!! I really will try to do better.:)))"

Ark Movers is exceptional. The guys arrived exactly on time. They are courteous, thoughtful and very helpful. They advised me that two leveling legs were missing from a desk and they then improvised with felt pads and leveled it. They hooked up the washer and instructed me on what I needed to purchase for the dryer. They moved a couch into a space that one would have thought was not humanly possible but they did it. They never stopped for even a minute until they were finished.

My experience with Ark Moving and Storage was mixed.  While they did a good job of fitting everything on the truck, I noticed some items were not loaded with care.
For whatever reason, they decided not to wrap (plastic or otherwise) some of the most expensive items which was strange because when they finished loading there was 1.5 rolls of thick plastic wrap remaining.  Other items were left unprotected in a trunk.
Once at my destination, I noticed that my $2,200 HD television was unwrapped on the floor of the truck. Now, the television has rub marks engraved into the cabinet.  Also, my suede chair was not wrapped.  While unloading the truck, I noticed they used my some of large, white cardboard envelopes (about $8 each) as a type of padding.
Nothing arrived at the destination broken, but more than a few items have rub marks from how they loaded the truck.
Loading the truck lasted at least six hours though the workers took many smoke breaks. After their smoke breaks, they flicked the cigarette butts on my property and in the truck's tailgate.
After they were finished, the team leader left the truck parked diagonally across the driveway instead of leaving it in the same position he found it. Also, some of the comments made during their work day sounded like the gripes of flat rate workers instead of hourly workers.
I do have photos in case there is a way to share.
Response from Ark Moving & Storage
"I am very sorry you were not completely happy with the move. As you remember there was quite a bit more going out of town then you had originally anticipated. The boys barely got it onto the truck and to be honest if any one else would have done it most likely would not have fit. It was a real jigsaw puzzle and thank goodness we had someone there with 30 yrs. experience in moving!! When we had spoken you were supplying the items for the movers to wrap the furniture up in. We used household items such as blankets and comforters to save you money and you then had purchased some material you wanted them to use. They do not know the prices of material- the movers do not do orders of material- they would choose what is best for them to use to cover the furniture. Plastic wrap is not a good protection!!!! Will not protect against furniture shipping on a long haul so it is rarely used. Protection with padding is best used. I am sorry you never called me so we could discuss any issues you had. The boys worked very hard and they had this job done within very reasonable time if not more so- since you were not packed and ready. The movers do smoke outside but they keep a cup at the end of "our" truck for the butts. When we have requests for no smoking we do abide by that and they stay away. Unfortunately in this type of business most movers have the bad habit of smoking as in all these types of trade. The owner is very particular about where this is done and the men never go off to smoke taking time away from a move as a lot of other companies would. This is a little hard to explain but I have never in all my years had anyone else complain about their smoking because they are very considerate of how and when and how long. They do not disappear for 10 mins. While the tv was not wrapped in plastic-- bad idea it was covered with a blanket. This is the best way to protect it- not wrapping in plastic. Plastic is not good protection and causes sweat!! I really would have loved to talk with you instead of just reading so I could have better understood your complaint. I am very sorry you were unhappy- We all remember this job very well as we spoke how it was so touch and go just to get all the items onto the truck- was really to small a space for the amount you were taking. But they made sure to get it all on as you were going very far. I do apologize for you being unhappy - and truly they would not have known how much the different materials you had supplied had cost. They would just assume there for them to use with all the other materials. Please let me know if there is anything you would like to talk over- I would be happy to speak with you."
