"The installer showed up on time and started work right away.  The installer was polite and professional and understood his work very well.  After discussing the doors and window that should be linked to the alarm, he provided advice on where the key pad should be located.  The installer also set up and explained the system to me as well.
I docked quality, slightly, on account of the original placement of the pin pad.  The installer put it in a spot that prevented a door in my living room from fully opening.  I pointed this out to him, and the installer was kind enough to move it about 6 inches to fix the problem.  Moving left some extra drill holes in my living room wall, but that's fine as we're repainting soon.

"This was the best experience with a moving company I've ever had. I solicited quotes from three companies before making the move. I decided to go with Moving Ahead in part because theirs was the lowest quote; more important to me, however, was the fact that they were the only company to physically come to my home to do a thorough walk-through before providing that quote. I was able to order boxes through them that were dropped off at my house. I did a price comparison with the boxes I could buy at U-Haul or a similar place and for more than 3/4 of the sizes I needed, Moving Ahead was the better choice (not to mention WAY easier since they came right to my door). They offered additional services and I did take advantage of their cleaning services to prep the place I was moving out of for the next occupant. All of the staff members with whom I worked were fabulous. The team members on moving day were careful, efficient, easy-going, and fun. They took excellent care of my belongings -- the only item broken in the move was the result on my not securing it well enough. I feel badly that it's taken me this long to post a review (I'm just now unpacked and settling in) because choosing this company was the best decision I made in my move."

Door Repair questions, answered by experts

Fixing the leaky door frame will require caulking, new weather stripping, or a complete installation of a new door. Even more important is making sure the door is protected from the elements by an awning, entry roof, or roof overhang. This small detail ensures that even a poorly weather-stripped door will fare well in precipitation, except for the rare occasion when strong wind gusts drive rain and snow horizontally.

For most doors, you can use a 1-inch chisel to create the mortise for the strike plate. In addition, you can use a 3/4-inch chisel for more refined cuts and to clean up the edges of your mortise. The smaller tool is handy when squaring off the edges around the hole for your latch.

Look for signs of advancing wear and tear. Crumbling wood, rusted hardware, or increasingly misaligned doors indicate that you should begin considering a replacement. Although the replacement price might seem high, replacing the doors as soon as you notice these issues is best. Letting your existing doors continue to deteriorate can result in costly damage to your basement and belongings.

Loose latches, misaligned tracks, broken locks, and sticking doors are common problems requiring repair or replacement.

Installation costs range from $300 to $1,500, depending on door type, material, and labor. Repairs typically cost $100 to $500, depending on damage severity.
