"The rep showed up on time and was very personable. The appointment was around 8pm which was kind of annoying but that wasn't his fault. He asked what my objective was as he could see that the home was an active construction site. I told him I was a professional investor and this was either going to be a rental or flip, depending on budget. He explained he could get me a wholesale account rate since the home was owned by a business., but he had to call someone in management to get this pricing. The guy didn't answer, almost certainly because by now the clock was pushing 9pm. While we were waiting he punched some numbers in his computer and told me that if he hadn't had this great idea my price for 2 small bedrooms, a small landing and 12 stairs would have been almost $2500. Lucky me. Then after waiting awhile I told him we could both leave since I had a family I would like to see before 11pm and he could call or text me when he got pricing. He said that was not advisable because he had to get everything done in person if I wanted to hit my job deadline. OK. Finally the guy calls back, and the rep relayed what my special pricing was going to be. I told him it was too high and I needed it to be a couple hundred less to hit my budget, and I was going to make a couple more calls, but if his deal was the best I would call him back. He responded by saying he knew I would because that was basically the best carpet price ever quoted for my size job. Then he said I might be able to find cheaper but you can also buy a car for really cheap if it has no wheels. Luckily I was able to locate some carpet elsewhere that I would compare to a car that has wheels, looks and feels really nice, and met my budget. Like I said, nice guy but if I'm being honest I could have done without the whole experience."

"Most surfaces in my home have been replaced over the past 10 years but I still don't like to clean. Tammy and her crew cleaned everything as promised and cleaned everything well. I am very pleased with the results and will have her come out for regular cleanings. POSITIVES:   No fingerprints or grease on kitchen appliances and walls above and around the stove. Everything was dusted - the blinds, ceiling fans, wall-to-wall book shelf and books. The bathroom toilets, floors, mirror, and sinks are clean. The mineral deposits on my bronze kitchen faucet are gone. Carpet vacuumed well, including the stairs. The light in the drop down ceiling was free of dead lady bugs. Dryer lint removed from around the washer/dryer. NEGATIVES:  only 3 small things - the bathroom sink fixtures not completely clean, toothpaste splatter left on the wall around the sink, and the kitchen counter a little sticky where it meets the back splash.

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

When installing carpeting on your steps, start at the top and work your way to the bottom. That way, you can easily control the carpet and create a better seal. This approach prevents the carpet from bunching up or creating wrinkles as you work. You’ll have better leverage over it as gravity helps guide it down each step.

Avoid placing carpet in the bathroom or the kitchen. After all, moisture is no friend to carpeting. Beyond that, it’s down to personal preference. Some people dislike when a garage or basement features carpet, but others enjoy it.

The life span of carpet in a home with children and animals depends on factors like the carpet material’s quality, how frequently you clean and maintain it, and the level of foot traffic. On average, carpets need to be replaced every five to 15 years. Signs of wear, matting, or persistent odors may indicate that it's time to contact a local flooring company to replace your carpet.

Many DIYers and pros start installing flooring in the middle of a room to ensure a balanced, symmetrical layout, especially when using tiles or planks. This process is particularly helpful in odd-shaped rooms because it allows you to create a centerline from which to work. Beginning in the center will enable you to work toward the edges so the final layout feels intentional and centered, even if the walls aren’t perfectly square.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.
