"These guys were outstanding. They removed wallpaper and painted my LR, DR, hall and foyer. Peter, his business, gave an accurate estimate and stuck to it, to the dollar. The old popcorn ceiling (popcorn removed by someone else) needed skim coating and actually needed an extra coat to make my ceiling literally pristine. He did not charge me for the extra labor or materials. The team was polite, entirely respectful of my home, and extremely kind to my elderly mother. There wasn't one drop paint where it shouldn't be. Not a single streak or drip. For the ceiling work, I believe the workers were actually running to complete the job on time and with precision. My washtubs are in the basement, I don't know how many trips they made up & down! They were patient with me as changed my mind on color choices. All the guys were personable, and clearly experienced. They cleaned up after themselves and put my furniture back where it belongs. 2 days after they were done, while was rehanging pictures. the ceiling got scraped! I reached out to Peter to get the right touch up paint, and he promised when he was in the area again he would do the touch up...and he did. Great experience, definitely will rehire!"

The type of paint you use on concrete influences how long it will last. Epoxy paint can last as long as 30 years and often comes with a warranty for at least 15 years. Another factor impacting the longevity of the paint is how much wear and tear the floors receive, such as heavy machinery or constant foot traffic, which can shorten the life span. 

While you could conceivably select any paint finish, paintable wallpaper tends to look its best with a flat or eggshell finish. A higher gloss paint might make the texture pop more, but it can look a bit dated once the paint has dried. And don’t worry about whether a water-based latex paint will loosen the wallpaper. Paintable wallpaper has a coating that prevents this from happening, so using latex paints without applying an oil-based primer to seal things first is fine.

Although plastic-sealed paint cans can look tricky, you can open them with adjustable pliers in no time. Grip the plastic seal with the pliers and pull the seal up, moving around the seal until you’ve pried the plastic up in enough spots. Then, you can grab the seal and pop it off the top of the paint can. Depending on the strength of the seal, you may even be able to remove the seal with just your hands by pulling upwards.

Since the average weight for a gallon of paint is between 7 and 12 pounds per gallon, the average weight of a 5-gallon bucket of paint will be around 35 to 60 pounds. The weight of your paint will depend on the quality and type of paint, with richer colors derived from heavy metals or natural earth pigments weighing the most and synthetically-derived paints weighing the least.

The length of time it takes to paint a house will depend on whether you’re doing it yourself or hiring a pro, and the time of year in which you’re planning to do it. A professional paint company can likely complete the job within three to four days, but they may need more time to account for bad weather. By contrast, it may take a week or more when opting to DIY.
