"Outstanding! Joel was an expert at replacing siding that had fallen from the top of my house. He was calm, polite, and thorough with his work. I would hire him again in a second if or when I might need more work done. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing home repairs."

"Ron Jones came to do the estimate when he said he would, returned every phone call, brought the proposal exactly when he said he would, and came to do the job promptly. He kept his word! He had a good system for keeping the old roofing mess contained, and his workers picked up around the house despite some nuisance juniper bushes. The job was completed in three days (if that), and best of all the roof has done a perfect job of keeping out every bit of moisture--a huge relief during the rains this past year as well as all the snow. This was the first winter we didn't get huge icicles hanging off the eaves troughs! And, too, the roof looks great; Ron Jones was very patient with us early on in the process when we debated over colors and roof shingle companies. In our case he did excellent work at the most reasonable price. When he left, he said that he'd come back "anytime" to fix whatever might need fixing on the roof should there be a problem. He kept his word on that, too, returning to fix a tiny problem with one of the gutters. He's honest and trustworthy and a great roofer. If we had another roof to fix, we'd hire him in a minute.

Siding questions, answered by experts

While bleach can be effective in killing mold, it may not fully remove mold stains from siding. Additionally, bleach can be harsh and may damage certain types of siding. It's recommended to use specialized mold cleaners or natural alternatives that are safe for your specific siding material as a part of your regular siding maintenance

Hardie board is more expensive than vinyl siding. Vinyl siding costs $3 to $12 per square foot, on average, with cost skewing toward the lower end of that range. Hardie board siding costs $7 to $18 per square foot, depending on the style, color, and trim. However, it lasts twice as long and often looks nicer, meaning you’ll see a higher bump in your home value and greater curb appeal from Hardie board.

Insulated vinyl siding costs about twice as much as the cheapest form of vinyl siding, but it’s still more affordable than other types of siding, including fiber cement, wood, stone, and brick. You get a lot of bang for your buck with vinyl siding; it’s durable, it’s available in a wide range of styles and colors, and it helps lower your energy bills.

On it own, aluminum siding has a relatively low insulation value (also called R-value); aluminum siding has an R-value of 0.61. However, you can purchase insulated aluminum siding to increase the R-value to between 2 and 5. You can also install additional insulation within your walls to help maintain temperatures within your home. On average, insulation costs $1,825 to install throughout the typical home.

Hail as small as 3/4 inch (about the size of a penny) can cause damage to your siding. When hail reaches 1 inch in size, you can expect to see more cracks, chips, and holes, and hail that’s 1 and 1/4 to 1 and 1/2 inches around will cause significant damage. If you see hail that’s 1 and 1/2 inches to 2 inches or more in size, the damage is likely to be extensive and possibly even dangerous.
