Scott and his team have served the Buffalo area since 2006. He is a certified member of the International Society of Arboriculture. Scott is committed to using the latest techniques to preserve the living legacy of trees. Scott began climbing and working with trees 1996 he has worked with some of the best Tree care companies in England and America. Scott was born in Llanwrst, North Wales (UK) and lived most of his life in England and Scotland. In 2001 he rode a bicycle through Asia for 6 months where he came across the Karenni Refugee camps on the Thai/ Burma border. He lived and taught English and Science in the refugee camps from 2002-2003 where he met his wife Sarah. In 2003 he moved to East Aurora, NY with his new wife an Aurora native. Most of Scott's passions are related to climbing. As well as climbing trees, both professionally and recreationally, Scott has been rock climbing and mountain climbing for all his life. He has scaled rock faces and mountains in major ranges on four continents. He also has a passion for the arts and sculpture in particular, which he earned a degree in, in 1999. Another of Scott's lifelong passions is for architecture. In 2007 he completed the construction of a timber frame/ straw bale house, which he designed and built, this is where he now resides.

"We used this company twice. We have a lot of large trees on our property that needed trimming to let some light in. They did a great job with trimming large trees and pruning and shaping our japanese maple. The second time we needed to take down the large ash tree in the back yard that was damaged by heavy snow. The access to the back yard is limited, so they brought the spider lift to do the job. Overall the experience was very good. Scott was somewhat slow to answer my calls the first time, but otherwise they were always on time and finished the job quickly and left everything clean and undamaged after work."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Trimming your palm trees once or twice per year keeps them healthy and robust. Caring for palm trees includes cutting off brown leaves to prevent wildfires and pathway obstruction. However, you don’t want to over-trim the palm tree. Cutting too many branches off will weaken the tree and prevent future growth. And it’s essential to have a strong, healthy palm tree during hurricane season to prevent safety risks or property damage.

Dead trees are structurally compromised and prone to branch or trunk failures—falling limbs or the entire tree can pose significant safety risks to people, nearby structures, and vehicles. In addition, dead trees can harbor termites and other pests, which may spread to other trees or even your home. Dry, dead wood is also highly flammable, increasing the risk of fires spreading to homes and across landscapes.

Transplanting a palm tree is a similar process except for a couple of important differences. First, their root ball doesn’t need to be as large as a “true” tree, which makes them a bit easier to dig up and move around. Second, they struggle more with taking root and staying upright in a new location, so it’s important to give them extra support when staking.

The average lifespan of an oak tree is 100 to 300 years, so long as it isn’t impacted by diseases like sudden oak death. Some species will last shorter or longer, depending on where you live.

The shepherd’s tree, native to the Kalahari Desert in Africa, holds the record for the deepest known tree roots at over 230 feet deep. Some African communities refer to it as the “Tree of Life” since it provides food, shade, and medicinal properties to the surrounding community.
