"We hired Aaliyah Landscaping to address the overgrown bushes in front of our home, which had become an obstruction to accessing the front door, and we also needed access behind the bushes on either side to repair siding around the windows that tends to loosen during windy conditions. These bushes had deteriorated over the past several years, appearing half-dead and exhibiting signs of disease. Therefore they needed a massive cut, shaping and clipping removal. This was unto itself a big job, especially for one person, yet Abel handled it professionally and the final results are nothing short of astonishing. "They did a great job. I had received ridiculous quotes from other companies, some of which wanted to charge $1,200 just to provide an estimate. Tony came to evaluate the job and provided and estimate quickly and then started the work the next day since he had an opening. He was very knowledgeable and provided good suggestions as to what could be done. Tony arranged about seven truck loads of dirt fill and two more loads of top soil. The grading looks great and was done timely. I would definitely recommend and use them again."

Colored mulch can be bad for plants in that it robs them of nitrogen as it depletes the soil to break itself down. With this in mind, it’s a good idea to test your soil to check the nitrogen levels. If the nitrogen levels are low, use fertilizer with extra nitrogen or switch to regular mulch.

Another downside of colored mulch is if it’s heavily contaminated, it can contaminate the soil and damage your plants. To avoid this, look for the MSC certification logo on the mulch bag before purchasing.

It depends. High-end colored mulch can be fairly costly. However, you'll have to replace less-expensive natural mulches, like pine needles and cedar mulch, more frequently. 

The cost is balanced out somewhat, though, as although you'll have to replace colored mulch less often, you'll have to replenish nutrients in your soil more frequently to make up for the decrease in organic matter and nitrogen from the mulch.

First, determine the square footage of the area you want to cover, and then determine how deep the bed of mulch will be—a good rule of thumb is around three inches. Multiply your square footage in feet by the depth in inches and divide by 324. You may want to add a ½ to one additional cubic yard to ensure you have enough.

Using sand under stepping stones can be beneficial in certain situations. Sand can help level the ground and provide stability for the stepping stones, especially if the ground is uneven. It also allows for minor adjustments during the installation process. However, sand may not be the best choice for all environments. In areas with high foot traffic or heavy rain, sand may wash away or become displaced, leading to an uneven surface. In such cases, a more stable base material like gravel or crushed stone is preferable. Consider your specific landscape conditions before deciding whether to use sand under stepping stones.
