Water in your basement? Cracks in your foundation? Leaky foundation walls? Call Woodford - we can help! Woodford Bros., Inc. specializes in basement waterproofing, foundation repair, concrete leveling, crawlspace repair, gutter installations and radon mitigation. Founded in 1962, Woodford's original focus was foundations and barns. Now, we do basement waterproofing, concrete leveling and radon mitigation. That's why Tom and Mike got the name "Basement Brothers." Honesty and hard work are at the heart of what we do, as modeled by our owners Tom and Mike Woodford. Our headquarters is in Apulia Station, outside of Tully, NY. We serve all of Central New York, including Syracuse, Rochester, Binghamton, Oswego, Ithaca, and Auburn.

"Josh Taft and Brad were very personable, professional and efficient. They were also respectful of my house. This is the second time I’ve used your company. No offense, but I hope I don’t need the services of your company again."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on desk size, labor, included features like drawers or motorized height adjustments, and required wall anchoring.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

Absolutely, as it ensures designs are viable and won’t compromise structural integrity.

A 4-inch-thick concrete slab can support around 4,000 pounds per square foot if a contractor reinforces the slab with rebar, while that same slab without reinforcements will support closer to 1,000 pounds. For the purposes of a patio, 4 inches in thickness without reinforcement should suffice unless you’re installing heavy kitchen equipment or a hot tub on it. In those cases, reinforcing your slab and sticking with 4 inches of thickness should provide plenty of strength.

Structural engineers typically charge between $100 and $250 per hour, but many jobs won’t be based on a per-hour fee. Instead, the structural engineer will offer a flat rate for the inspection and structural calculations. The flat rate for a structural engineer costs an average of around $550, but you could see prices ranging from $300 to $800, depending on the complexity of your project and how easy it is to access certain parts of your home for the inspection.
