Angel Jr. and his family moved from Puerto Rico in 1987 for better opportunities. He was taught to pave by his father, Angel Sr. He started as a laborer at the young age of 19. By age 38 Angel Jr. was running the equipment & was leading teams of laborers. Together they paved a way to success for their family. Angel III was born and joined their legacy. By the time he was 16 he began working as a laborer & learning under his grandfather, Angel Sr. After only a few years at age 20 Angel III began running the equipment. After using our talents for other companies we decided to finally take that leap of faith to start our own company! We are beyond excited and ready to display our expertise and deliver a great product to the communities around us.

"We hired Shamrock Paving in the summer of 2020 to tear out and install a brand new driveway. I have been waiting to write my review for the job to be completed. Unfortunately, they never finished the full extent of the work that was promised. Shamrock was initially easy to work with. Once on site, they begun to tear out the old driveway and had to increase the cost of the project. The original driveway did not have the proper stone depth underneath the asphalt. This was unexpected and nearly doubled the cost of the quote. Shamrock worked with the town, as we were mandated to get new sidewalks put in at the same time as the driveway. Shamrock was quick to get over and finish once the town was done. However, we again received bad news that the sidewalk concrete was set too high and the rain water would not drain properly away from the house. Jessie explained a couple of options, a French drain being one of them and tried to tell me it was an easy DIY job. By the end of the install he communicated that he left the driveway unfinished where the water was pooling and he would come back to install the drain himself, since we had a difficult install experience. He asked me to give him until October 31, 2020 to get the drain installed, as that is when his busy season would be over. I did that. I waited another month and he promised to come during a mild week in December. No call, no show. This continued for the entire next year, promising me dates for the work to be completed and never coming (March 29th, April 5th, April 10th, July 16th, July 19th…) Jessie tried to turn this around on me in July stating that he offered to do this for free because “I couldn’t afford” to pay for the drain….after I had already spent nearly $6K with him! Last month I called the company and sent him direct messages – no response. So now we are left with an unfinished driveway (that I never asked for!). Don’t give them your money, as the company values go out the door as soon as they have it!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt driveways last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, but if you don’t stay on top of repairs, you may find yourself spending extra to replace your driveway before its typical lifespan. Stay on top of repairing cracks and potholes by routinely inspecting your driveway once or twice a year. It’s a good idea to pressure wash your asphalt driveway at least once a year to keep it clean. Apply a sealer every one to five years, based on your climate.

While the specific timeline for building a driveway can vary based on driveway length and local weather conditions, the average concrete driveway can require several days to lay down all of the different parts of the driveway. The curing process may require you to avoid using your driveway for a week following construction. Heavier vehicles should be kept off of a new concrete driveway for several weeks. Building a gravel driveway may take just one to two days in total.

Yes, using recycled asphalt millings is an eco-friendly alternative compared to concrete. Millings are reclaimed pieces of gravel that are recycled into aggregate that can be used on driveways, patios, walkways, basketball courts, tennis courts, and more.

Instead of a set number of types, asphalt comes in variations designed for different needs. Some are categorized by temperature—hot mix, warm mix, and cold mix. Others are sorted by composition, like dense-graded, gap-graded (such as Stone Matrix Asphalt), porous, and mastic asphalt. There are also modified versions with added compounds like polymers, rubber, or emulsions. Instead of focusing on a number, it may be more useful to understand how contractors customize asphalt for durability, climate, and traffic conditions.

Driveway aprons typically range between four and seven inches thick, though your town's building codes will likely have specific requirements. Additionally, you may need to add a layer of permeable aggregate in the excavation below your paved apron to ensure proper stormwater drainage.
