"I agree, it is neither professional nor acceptable for an estimator to respond to a potential customer in that manner and not follow through with providing you with an estimate. B&M Paving has reviewed our records and cannot find any information under your name or the address. We schedule estimate appointments through our office and cannot find you listed on our estimate calendar going back through this season. Most estimates are given at the time of appointment with the customer, and on rare occasions, if a consult is needed on a particular job, the estimator would make arrangements with the customer to provide the estimate at a later date. It is unusual that we would not respond to a request that came through any one of these outlets, but there is always the possibility of human error and that someone was unintentionally overlooked, especially during the height of the paving season. After several emails between B&M and you regarding scheduling conflicts, the estimator went out to look at the driveway, though you were not home at the time. Due to the tight area of your driveway in reference to the size of our equipment and the water issues you are dealing with, the estimator requested the owner of B&M Paving take a look to get his opinion. Once the owner saw the driveway and talked with the estimator, they determined that it was in the best interest of our company to decline an estimate based on these findings. This was the reason for the delay in getting a response from us. We would rather be honest and turn down a job than take a job and have issues with it. Our apologies for not being able to accommodate your driveways needs and hope you find the appropriate company to complete your project."
