"We recently found Victor on Angie’s list and he is absolute fantastic! We recently moved in and need help with all kinds of projects from painting to deck work to electrical and more. He couldn’t be more lively to work with. He is very responsive and has fair prices. I highly recommend him! We will be using Victor and his great crew for all future house projects. "Jason is a first class contractor. We hired him to build a deck, refurbish our outdoor shower and built two patios. Outstanding workmanship, kept the work area neat and clean during construction, fair pricing and followed through with everything that he said he would do. A great find and would recommend him to all. Thank you!"

"We had a large bedroom and en suite bath that was in bad shape and needed substantial preparation work before painting and staining ceiling beams. We received a very fair estimate and then the team arrived. The team covered their shoes, laid down a covering over the stairs leading to the upstairs and then covered the rug leading down the hall. And then the tram spent substantial time getting the walls prepped.. The paint job and staining of the beams was done first rate. The team then cleaned the bath wiped down the furniture. We have asked for another estimate and plan to use Juan and company again."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

Costs depend on desk size, labor, included features like drawers or motorized height adjustments, and required wall anchoring.

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.

The cost to install a bow window can range from $1,500 to $15,000, with a national average of $3,900. The total price includes materials, which can cost between $1,200 and over $14,000, and labor, which typically adds $300 to $1,900. Several factors influence the final cost, including the window's size and frame material. For example, vinyl frames are the most budget-friendly option, while wood frames are more expensive. Custom features or energy-efficient upgrades will also increase the price. For comparison, a bay window installation typically costs between $1,000 and $7,000.
