"Hank did a wonderful job in repairing & painting a badly cracked ceiling in my living room. He also removed old ceiling paper in my dining room and painted the ceiling. Both were done in the agreed time frame and at a competitive price. Hank is very pleasant and listened to all my concerns. I highly recommend him !"

Small jobs welcome

"We originally wanted two water stained ceilings patched and painted and the living room re-painted. We met Mike who promptly met us after we requested an estimate. Having been in the financial industry for decades I've come across all kinds of sales people and I'm proud to say that Mike is not like any of them. Mike is friendly, genuine, professional and likeable. He is neither phony or pushy. He was pleasant and understanding of our needs. He told us what had to be done and gave us a reasonable estimate that never varied. His painters, Nino and Willie were assigned to our project. These two gentlemen were a pleasure to have in our home. We were extremely comfortable with them. Their work was truly professional and shamed the previous work done in our home. They arrived ahead of time and left the rooms clean and spotless. Their work was meticulous and showed off their skills. We were so impressed that we immediately hired them to repaint the stairwell and the bedrooms upstairs."

"Moises and his crew repaired water rotted wood in difficult locations and completely finished the garage to every detail from insulation to molding, as shown in pictures here. They thought of every detail that shows their pride over their work. Not only is their work top notch, but they are also easy to work with and very communicative through the whole process. I have already hired them for a second job."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Plaster is denser, harder, and more porous than drywall, so it absorbs moisture differently. This means you’ll often need more prep work, such as thorough sanding, patching, and priming with a high-quality bonding primer. Additionally, you may need more coats of paint to achieve even coverage. While the process takes more time, it helps ensure a durable and professional-looking result.

Depending on the place where the cutting error occurred, you may be able to fix it. Learning how to patch a hole in drywall is challenging, but if you can tape and mud drywall, you can do it. Having said that, patching is time consuming. Early in the installation process, you may find that it’s easier and far less time consuming to just start over with a new sheet of drywall, cutting a new hole in the right spot. You may be able to use part of the incorrectly cut piece elsewhere, so it’s not completely wasted.

If you’re installing new drywall, you may need to skim coat the drywall first for a smooth finish and to allow the primer to adhere to the wall. It’s only necessary if there are imperfections in your drywall due to issues with the studs or improper drywall installation. If you’re refreshing existing walls, you may want to skim coat if there are imperfections across the wall. As an alternative, you can repair your drywall and sand it for a smooth finish before painting.

Metal corners, often referred to as corner beads for square corners, are used on drywall installations to provide structural reinforcement to vulnerable outside corners. Their usage safeguards against chipping, denting, or other forms of damage, enhancing the overall durability of the wall. Metal corners also offer a precise and straight edge that facilitates sharp and clean lines, crucial for achieving a polished and professional finish.

Whether to repair or replace water-damaged plaster depends on the scale of the damage. For small, limited areas, you can often perform a repair yourself. If you choose to paint over small patches, ensure the surface is completely dry and apply a coat of antifungal primer first to prevent mold growth. However, simply painting or plastering over the damage is only a temporary solution that doesn't address the core problem. For more extensive or long-term damage, the plaster may be compromised, and there is a risk of mold. In these cases, it is recommended to remove the damaged section of plasterboard and replace it. You may consider hiring a professional for the repair, and it's worth noting that water damage is often covered by home insurance.
