Customers say: True professional

"The OnCall team does wonderful work installing wallpaper! They are very communicative, thorough and clean. I have worked with them on many projects and they always do a great job! They also do repair work seamlessly (we had them do one on an older install that was by someone else we had extra paper for). The team members have a good eye and are experts in their field."

"Jaime and his team are professional, friendly and dependable. They were able to work with my timeline and did an absolutely beautiful job on wallpapering (including stripping old wallpaper and fixing the walls). They are highly skilled craftsmen and I wholeheartedly recommend them. I will definitely contact them for any future projects. Thank you!!"

"Brian was not only a delight to work with but also such a fine, expert and caring wallpaper hanger! He was meticulous, always on time and truly cared about the job he was doing. His communication skills are excellent, always keeping us informed as to what he was doing. We must say, it is unusual to come across such a dedicated working professional. He did such a beautiful job in hanging our paper. It was a large project. He did 7 rooms in our house of which all are now gorgeous! The hallway/step area was extremely challenging to do as the walls/angles go up quite high. Perfection! Not a problem for Brian! We miss him already not seeing his smiling face as he entered our home in the morning and throughout the day. Another thing we really liked is that he did not rush through things. His detail to attention was great. He always had the time to ask our opinions and such. We LOVE Brian! If you want to have a great job done and someone whom is a pleasure to have in your home, you need not look any further! Hire Brian. You will not be disappointed. We feel very lucky and fortunate to know him and have him restore our 90+ year old home back to it's former glory. Keep on hanging, Brian ... you are the best! Joan and Brent"

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

Small amounts of wallpaper can be thrown away in your household trash. If you’re removing a whole home’s worth of wallpaper, you may need to contact a waste removal company, rent a dumpster, or schedule a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste removal service. Wallpaper isn’t recyclable, so no matter which method you choose to dispose of it, make sure it doesn’t get mixed in with the recycling.

When comparing peel-and-stick and traditional wallpaper, the better choice depends on your specific needs and space. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is more budget-friendly and easier to DIY install. On the other hand, traditional wallpaper lasts much longer and holds up better in a wider variety of spaces, including areas with moisture like kitchens and bathrooms.

To remove adhesive-backed wallpaper, you’ll need to soften the adhesive before you try peeling the wallpaper off the walls. You may wonder whether peel-and-stick wallpaper damages walls. It can depend on the removal method. Make sure to be patient and consider using a steamer, hair dryer, or adhesive remover to carefully take down adhesive-backed wallpaper.

While many types of peel-and-stick wallpaper can be used in bathrooms, they may not adhere as well in humid environments as traditional wallpaper. For best results, choose a vinyl or polyester-based wallpaper, as these materials are more durable and water-resistant. Good ventilation is also crucial to reduce humidity from steamy showers. In bathrooms with high moisture and inadequate ventilation, even high-quality peel-and-stick wallpaper is likely to peel over time.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.
