"I love my backyard! John Starkie drew up the landscape design plans and kept me informed before, during and after planting. All work was completed in only 2 days including a repair to my patio pavers. He is passionate and educated about what he does and makes sure you know how to maintain your landscape. Johns crew removed a tree stump for free just to improve the look of the project. All work exceeded my expectation!!!"

"Had a backup a few days before and wanted to determine if it was a simple clog or cesspool related. They sent out a tech (Jimmy) the same day. He located both cesspools and walked me through my options. He was honest and patient, answering all my questions along the way."

Most people never expect to need an excavation contractor. Then one day the water stops working, a sewer line fails, or someone tells them they need to dig up their property.\n\nThat's where Kronos comes in.\n\nNobody should have to become an underground plumbing expert overnight just to make the right decision. Every project starts with a clear explanation of what's happening, why it needs to be fixed, and the options available before any work begins.\n\nThe best contractors don't just solve problems they make sure you understand them. That knowledge helps you make confident decisions today and avoid costly mistakes tomorrow.\n\nUnderground plumbing isn't just about repairing pipes beneath your property. It's about helping you navigate one of the most disruptive and expensive repairs a home or business can face with clarity, and workmanship you can trust.

"It went well. The two man team came within the scheduled appointment window, worked quickly, completed the removal quickly, and made sure that the area was clean before they departed. They were professional, willingly answered any questions, and were courteous. The appointment was made through Angie's list, the main office was quick to respond , schedule the appointment, and provided a site unseen estimate upon receiving a description of the materials to be removed that was pretty close to the final price."

"We had a messy curly willow
that was too close to the house for me to cut. Eddy were quick to
come out and give us a quote I could not refuse. They said they would
try to get us in before the weekend (4 days away) and they were at the
house a day later. They were safe, quick and cleaned up very well. Even
after they got into their truck to leave - the truck stopped, one of the
guys hopped out and ran out into the lawn to pick up a few missed
chips. I HIGHLY recommend this business!

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Water lines are buried at various depths, depending on the type of line. For example, most sprinkler lines are buried between four and 12 inches underground. On the other hand, water mains usually sit between one and 3 feet below ground. However, they can go even deeper in cold climates to prevent freezing.

You should dig 3 to 6 inches deep for plastic edging. Dig as wide as you need to fit your plastic edging into it—2 inches is usually sufficient.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

Because decomposed granite is a durable material, a crushed rock or gravel base is optional as long as the DG is properly installed and compacted. However, installing a base is a good idea because it will ensure proper drainage and stability and act as a weed suppressant (although you may still occasionally have to pull weeds). Installing an adequate base can also increase the durability of driveways and walkways. If you forego the paver base or gravel underneath, line the area with landscaping fabric to avoid weeds.

No, a ditch isn’t a trench. A ditch is an open, relatively shallow channel that’s carved out of the ground and used for drainage purposes. In contrast, a trench is a deeper excavation that’s entirely underground. Trenches have many uses, including gas lines, sewage systems, and electrical wiring. Unlike trenches, ditches don’t get filled back in with dirt after they’re dug.
