Customers say: True professional

"I highly recommend JC steel for their professionalism and attention to detail which really set them apart from the other contractors I ordered 2 sets of railings with one installation above a trex deck Unlike other contractors who recommended screwing the railing to the deck they removed the decking and installed pressure treated 2x12â  s between the joists and a plate below the decking to ensure a secure footing Luis the steel fabricator designed a steel diamond plate cover for my septic tank . The cover included a recessed handle and pieces of angle iron underneath to insure the cover wouldnâ  t slide. The fact that theyâ  ve provided the extra details at a price which was comparable to the other estimates was very much appreciated. I"

"We live in an old farmhouse that had an outside rusted fireplace trap door. We called several welding companies and no one wanted to accept the job. We finally contacted Outlaw Welding Services. Nick, the owner, came to our home and offered a solution. My husband spent a lot of time watching Nick work. His conclusion, Nick was a genius. He welded it into something that looked brand new while still keeping the character of the old trap door. Nick answered our calls, was polite, was on time, cleaned up the job site after each day and his fee was quite reasonable. How many service people do you know who meet all these qualifications. Without reservation, we highly recommend Outlaw Welding Services."

"Extremely professional. Showed up on time for the estimate. Answered all the questions I had. Provided a competitive estimate to build and install a custom Flitch beam on-site. I chose to go with a custom made-to-order (in the factory) and ready to install Flitch beam from Better Header."

"Joe at Ignite Welding made me a custom hand railing and ladder to safely access an overhead mezzanine storage area in my garage. Joe made the whole process streamline and simple for me. I would hire Joe again for any welding needs or fabrication that I have."

"I needed stucco repair work on an old chimney (and other spots). Grady was meticulous and thoughtful on what approaches and materials would work. Throughout the project they allocated sufficient time for each treatment to cure and inspected the work before proceeding to the next step. Grady started the project with no money down and only required ongoing payments for materials until the project was well underway. The final payment was due only after they did a final inspection. Total project cost was also below other bids."

Welding questions, answered by experts

Since water heaters are primarily made of metal, they’re commonly accepted by scrap yards and collectors. Don’t expect to fetch a high price, though—water heaters are mostly steel and aluminum, which aren’t high-value metals. Some components are made of more valuable metals, like brass and copper, but they’re a small portion of the heater and won’t affect the price much.

It will likely take an experienced pro less than an hour to install a ground rod, which is another reason why letting them handle the job is such a good idea. Safety concerns aside, it would likely take you much longer to install a ground rod if you decided to take this one as a DIY job.

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

Yes, you can cut plexiglass by hand using a sharp knife or blade (utility knife, box cutter, glass cutter, etc.).

The best thing to cut metal pipe is a durable pipe cutter that is made for metal. You may want to measure the diameter of the pipes before purchasing a pipe cutter to ensure it will be able to cut your metal pipes. Opt for a heavy-duty option to cut through metal like steel or cast iron.
