"Very professional Chester and his crew were amazing. All work was done in a timely fashion from the removal of my solar panels to the reinstall. I couldn’t be more pleased. Before the work began Chester explained in detail exactly what needed to be done. They left my premise clean and secured at all times. I would highly recommend them for your solar needs. 5 stars for sure. !!!"

"I contacted Solar Medix replace two DC string inverters on our 15 year old solar array. As it turned out, they were able to correct some wiring instead of replacing the inverters! Thank you for doing a fantastic job! They saved us a few thousand dollars! And I highly recommend them!"

"I pride myself on being thorough and doing the necessary due diligence before undertaking a major project. Deciding that we are through paying through the nose for electric, our family decided to go solar. I arranged consultations with a dozen representatives of local solar companies. Each and every representative besides anthony at morning solar insisted on phone meetings and remote satellite pictures to estimate the project parameters for my home. In my opinion, a large project that is a sizable investment requires personalized diagnostics. The other representatives remotely used 2 year old satellite pictures to estimate where to put panels and how many. I told them it is simply impossible to do so remotely as I have removed 25 trees from the vicinity of my home and the information they received from the outdated photos are pointless. Irregardless, the phone conversations all went the same. They emailed me project estimates without so much as stepping foot on my property. Besides being overpriced and inaccurate for my home, the technology in all the estimates was obsolete. Needless to say, it was quite discouraging. Anthony at Morning Star Solar Group drove personally to my home, gave me a hearty handshake and began to assess the situation. Taking photos on site and estimating where the sun rises and sets in relation to my home gave a me a personalized solution to my energy problems. Anthony is the only solar professional I dealt with to go the extra mile for their customer. We completed our solar project together as a team and now 2 years later, I can safely say going with Morning Star was the definitive right move!"

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

For most U.S. homeowners, switching to solar energy is an excellent investment. A properly sized solar array can significantly reduce your electric bill, saving money on utilities every month. Most homeowners enjoy savings that cover the cost of their solar systems within 12 years and then turn a profit. Additionally, federal and state tax incentives are available that help make solar an even better and more profitable investment.

Although solar panels harness the sun's power, they come at an environmental cost. The manufacturing process requires large amounts of water and involves hazardous materials like cadmium, silicon, and gallium arsenide. These materials don’t pose safety hazards while the panels are in use but can pose a problem when left in landfills. Over time, hazardous materials can leach into the environment. This is why recycling solar panels whenever possible is better than taking them to landfills.

  • Installing a new electrical meter box

  • Replacing your meter base

  • Replacing your service entrance cable

The cost to install or upgrade an electrical meter box ranges from $100 to $650, including $50 to $250 for the unit. The meter base passes the power from your electric company to your panel. The cost to replace a meter base is roughly $50 to $250.

Service entrance cables are electrical cables with multiple wires, bringing power from electrical companies to residential buildings. The cost to replace a service entrance cable ranges roughly from $1,000 to $1,500.

Removing solar panels can be straightforward, but it’s not necessarily a simple process. Your contractor needs to prevent damage—not only to your panels but also to your roof and electrical system. Many systems are wired into the main electrical grid, and you’ll need to hire a licensed electrician to disconnect it.

The actual time it takes to construct the solar farm is relatively short, taking between 2 and 4 months on average. That timeline is dependent on site conditions, crew size, and the overall size of the solar farm.

However, the time it takes to get the ball rolling is significantly longer, ranging from 3 to 5 years. With a project of this scale, you’ll need to obtain all of the proper permits and approvals to start breaking ground, and depending on your location, that could be an extended process.
