"As soon as I finished my request on HomeAdvisor and pressed Enter, the phone rang and it was Kevin from Smithtown House of Vacuums. I explained what I needed and arranged to meet him at my house, which is in the process of being elevated as a result of Hurricane Sandy. The internal vacuum piping and venting of the central vacuum system had to be moved and rerouted to allow the ceiling in the new utility room to be closed. Kevin did this in a more efficient configuration and lowered the receptacle drum in the garage because the elevation made it unreachable. Everything was lined up and hooked up and ready to go after just one visit. The level of workmanship was excellent, and on a personal level, dealing with Kevin was very clean and easy. He's punctual, does what he says and is a man of his word. I strongly recommend Kevin for anybody needing the services of an excellent central vacuum cleaning system specialist."

The tech, Jared was very professional and knowledgeable. He explained some issues with the furnace and did not recommend putting the money into it to fix at this point as the furnace is old but safe and is in working order. He did suggest to replace the furnace in a about a year rather than put 1,000 into it at this point. The furnace is not running efficiently and we know it has not been for quite a while.

Purchasing this house 18 years ago and the furnace being older already , we knew it would have to be replaced eventually.

"He was good but, following instructions, he wasn't so good. He didn't complete all the tasks that I wanted done. I felt like he was only going to do one thing because, I wasn't wanting to pay him more. I knew what needed to be done but, not how it needed to be done. I specifically asked him if he knew how to put the screens in those screens, they were kits. His intention was to do one job. You cut screen, put the rubber in, put the frame together and then stretch it. It's not hard. I just wanted him to put two screens together and put them in two windows. I have no screens. He didn't have a measuring tape. He knows his craft, just finds a way to get out of it. He was early and on time. I thought the price was reasonable and he had it done in an hour. I had everything that he needed. He knows his stuff. I don't care how you do it, just do it."
