"Excellent, the company personnel Bob, Kathy & Paul gave us many options on choosing what had to be done to improve the unit. Everyone is very easy to work with. Most importantly, after the job was completed, any items that had to be adjusted they came back and fixed the problem."

"Company very responsive. Was able to come right away to see what needed to be done. As they worked, unfortunately one replacement window pane broke. They immediately returned to their store and returned later the same day with more glass, which was installed without incident."

"John had told me that due to pandemic delays, it would be a while before my door arrived so I was prepared to wait. On the day of installation there was a slight time delay and I appreciate it that he called to inform me the installer would arrive a little later, which he did. The job was done and the door looks great. I would definitely hire them again in the future."

"They did a wonderful job. I unfortunately don't remember the team of guys that they sent in. With the exception of two of them, they were from another country and so, they didn't speak a lot of English. One was kind of a translator of the guys who were working. They worked from 7 in the morning to 7 at the night, four different guys. They did a great job. We have not had any problems with the basement ever since. They did a wonderful job! I have told other people about them since. I would use them in future."

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

An egress window is similar to a regular window. However, this type of window opens fully to allow people to escape the home or rescue personnel to enter the home if an emergency occurs. Egress windows are required in all finished basements before they can be considered a living space.

Most professionals can enlarge a window in five to 10 hours, depending on the window location, the exterior wall material, how easy it is to cut through it, and how much buildback you’ll need after the installation is complete. However, more complex projects can take two to three days from start to finish.

Most modern egress windows installed in basements open outward into a window well, although some older homes have in-swing windows. Egress windows, like casement windows used in other parts of the home, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, may open inward, and these windows are often larger than outward-opening windows.

Basements are generally required to have windows for your safety. At a minimum, windows should provide an egress in the event of a fire. But basement windows do more than offer a way out; basement windows also offer natural light and ventilation in an area of your home that is otherwise dark and musty.

Egress windows are typically required for basements with habitable space or living quarters. Not all basements or lower levels require egress windows. However, egress windows are required in homes with living spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms in a basement. The International Residential Code and International Building Code require sleeping rooms to have a specific size egress window. Check your local building codes to confirm the requirements in your area.
