Having a garage installed certainly adds to the value of your home. You’ll want to use a sprayer to paint your garage door, especially if the door has panels and other details. A sprayer can get those hard-to-reach places much easier than cutting in with a brush or trying to roll the paint. Once you get comfortable using a sprayer, you’re more likely to get a smooth, professional-looking finish. However, a paint roller will also work if you’ve got a flat garage door or if you don’t have access to a sprayer.

While you can technically use WD-40 to lube a garage door, it is not the best option since the oil it leaves behind can attract dirt. Instead, go to the hardware store and locate a lithium- or silicone- based garage grease. You can also search for garage door lubricant online; just make sure you get one that is made with lithium or silicone.

There are three ways to open the garage door when the power is out. One is to invest in a solar panel and battery system or generator backup power. Another method is to use the quick-release key to disconnect the garage door from the garage door opener. You can also use the key to your house to wait out the power outage and reset the garage door opener once the power returns.
