"We hired Al to do some custom frame molding on a rather large wall in our living room. We knew what we wanted but weren't sure of the execution due to a ductless AC system that needed to be incorporated into the design. Al, Nick and Franco worked together to customize a design that fits perfectly into the space and has simply transformed the look of our living room. As for the quality of the work, the three men worked as a team and produced first-rate finish carpentry work. They showed up on time, were polite and genial, and answered any questions we had with patience and knowledge. Since we realized had stumbled upon a gem of a company, we asked if, while they were here, they could do a few other small jobs that needed tackling, involving electrical, lighting and spackling work, if it was in their range of expertise. Al and Nick assured us it was no problem, and those other, smaller jobs, were done with the same expertise and professionalism that the original job produced. We cannot give them higher praise. Hire ALS General Contracting!"

"Fast and super helpful. Gave me a proposal right away. Started work same week. If deviations were needed, was specific on what and why. Reasonable and fair pricing, and honest about their capabilities and areas of expertise. Professional team and went out the way to provide additional references for other concerns. I also appreciated the video Fabio took to show me the before and after, especially in areas I was unable to see."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

The most efficient ceiling fan height is 8 to 9 feet from the floor to the fan blades. For ceilings higher than 9 feet, a downrod can be used to lower the fan to the optimal height. This positioning ensures adequate air circulation and maximizes the cooling effect. Remember, fans should be installed at least 7 feet above the floor for safety.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

A typical fan installation takes between two and six hours. The exact timeframe can be influenced by factors such as the home's structure, existing electrical characteristics, ease of attic access, and whether complex wiring or additional attic ventilation work is required.

The more surface area that a ceiling fan blade has, the more effective it will be at producing airflow. Therefore, a longer ceiling fan blade is the better option if you’re looking for more wind. However, a longer blade will consume more energy than a shorter blade.
