"This company is excellent. Previously we were using a landscaper that was not taking care of our yard. When Mr. Villanueva came he saw right away what needed to be done to restore our yard. He is polite, considerate, and patient. He really understood our needs. He knew exactly what to do. Our yard from being a mess to beautiful. Our neighbors noticed the difference and have paid us many compliments. We are very happy and grateful we found this company."

"If you are looking for a great landscaper, I can't recommend Herverth highly enough. He always keeps my lawn looking neat, trimmed and well cared for. I never have to worry about the job being done right. He is reliable, professional, friendly and takes pride in his work. What I appreciate most is that he's there when you need him. Want a huge branch came down after a storm on my property, I called him, he came over right away and took care of it. His spring and fall cleanups are great as well, everything looks fresh clean and ready for the season. It's hard to find someone this dependable these days. If you're thinking about hiring a landscaper, give him a call you won't be disappointed."

Weed Services questions, answered by experts

Noxious weeds can be poisonous or act as an irritant to humans, but not all are directly harmful. However, indirectly, noxious weeds also compete with native species, effectively affecting our local ecosystems of plants, pollinators, and other animals.

Pulling weeds once per month is typically often enough to keep most weeds at bay. But in general, it's best to pull weeds as soon as you spot them to prevent deep root growth and slow their spread. To make it easier, plan your weed pulling after rain or after the sprinklers run so the soil will be nice and wet and the weeds will be easier to pull. If you notice moss accompanying weeds, make a plan to remove the moss immediately to prevent damage.

There are organic herbicide options that will kill grass but not flowers, including white vinegar or a dish soap solution. Commercial selective herbicides can also target grass over other plants, but read the instructions carefully to avoid damaging your garden. Herbicides that kill grass but not flowers usually include ingredients like clethodim and sethoxydim. Otherwise, your best bet will be to weed by hand.

Vinegar is known to be a contact herbicide, which means it kills the foliage it comes in contact with. Because of the high acetic acid concentration, horticultural vinegar kills weeds and grass more effectively. However, keep in mind that high amounts and multiple applications can affect the soil by lowering the pH levels.

You should add 1 to 4 inches of mulch, depending on your garden type and needs. Keep in mind that no amount of mulch can completely prevent weeds, but a heavier coverage (closer to 4 inches) can suppress weeds enough that you are only seeing them sprout every few weeks. Finer mulch prevents weeds more effectively than large mulch, so if you’re using mulched leaves or shredded bark, 1 to 2 inches will likely suffice, while 3 to 4 inches is best for larger mulch, like bark chips or straw.
