I was once told by a master stair builder that if you want to evaluate a general contractors work, look in the dumpster at the job site for an excessive amount of used caulk tubes indicating that they are covering up mistakes. Recently we completed a very challenging project that required the excavation under our old seasonal home in conjunction with a significant 2-story addition. After interviewing three reputable and recommended contractors, we decided to work with Dave Nessel, owner of Unique Construction. Dave presented a clear concise estimate of the scope for the work proposed, the costs we should expect and a timeframe for completion; all proved to be very accurate. He and his team of true artisans obviously enjoyed their work. Laughter and music would usually overshadow the sound of the power tools that were working in synchrony. The exceptional fit and finish in a clean and neat environment were easily appreciated. Dave is truly a meticulous visionary. During the project, he was never shy about recommending esthetic modifications which deviated from the architects drawings. Whether these change orders originated from him or us, they were never with exorbitant fees, but were billed for time and materials used. The final result far exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Peterson Home Improvements! I have an older barn that needed a bunch of work done - new kitchen, updating bathrooms, reinforcing the original structure, flooring, new windows, and more. I worked with Ed to get the project started and he was great to work with on what to expect and project timelines. He regularly checks in on how things are going as well. Joe and Matt were a pleasure to work with for the day to day work that was completed. They worked with electricians, plumbers, etc and coordinated all the work that needed to get done. They’ve always been great to work with and with such a large project in the main area of my home, they cleaned up every day making it comfortable for us. Would definitely work with them again and plan to on an addition in the future

Anton was easy to work with. Sent email on a Sunday. He called in five minutes and came that afternoon to look at the job. Replaced baseboard in four bedrooms and repaired a hole in the ceiling. All work was completed in two days starting that Monday. The carpenter that did the baseboards (I think his name is John) was great, neat and did a wonderful job. I will definately call Anton again. There were many mistakes made that the Rich Spoto and his company, Woodchips, refused to rectify. He did admit later, during arbitration, that he 'winged it' even though he was given the full manufacturer's manual on slab prep and installation. He sent his accomplice, Lisa Finerow to demand final payment even though the job was not completed. Due to her pressure, I accidently overpaid, yet they put a lien on my property and refused to finish the work. After hearing that he would be dropped from Home Advisor, Rich Spoto agreed to arbitration. The arbitrator ruled in my favor, yet he has not refunded my money, removed the lien, or given me the warranty info on the items he (supposedly) installed. Apparently he is on ANGI, and is now being recommended to cheat and bully other unsuspecting customers

Jeremy is the most straightforward contractor that I have worked with. We took on a major project where we were not going to be physically present while the work went on and we needed to work with someone we trusted. For starters, Jeremy was a great listener, he worked with us to understand what we wanted to do and helped provide valuable considerations as part of scoping the project. All throughout the construction process, Jeremy provided regular updates via photos and emails and worked very transparently to get the project completed including securing permits. Any scope changes we introduced were discussed before proceeding. Jeremy delivered an excellent product. The new addition is fantastic and has great build quality which has been complimented by many of my friends in the business. Would hire him again in a heartbeat and in fact already planning our next project

I could not be happier with the quality of work by unique construction. We had used them for two separate jobs. In 2013 our home had severe damage from hurricane Irene. Dave worked with our insurance company from beginning to end. He throughly restored our kit home, while making great suggestions while rebuilding. He has a great eye for details. In Oct 2016, he rebuilt our front porch. He came up with a new look, keeping the intgrity of the house in mind. Our neighbors were very complimentary on the new look and his work. His crew is on time and are extremely hard workers. I would only use unique construction for my home renovation and restorations
