I am a home maintenance company and I have been in business since 2007. I pride myself on being honest and dependable and I take pride in my work. I do not believe in creating more of a problem for my customer than they have or leaving my mess behind. If I can't do the job, I tell my customer up front and recommend another honest, dependable contractor. I do use subcontractors - BUT I am always on the job and I only use those who I have done business with for many years. I offer free estimates, but I do charge for written estimates. You can check out my Facebook page @. Your way home improvement Thank ron

"The owner of Your Way Home Improvement came to give us an estimate on August 17th to inspect and repair our soffits to keep pests out. He showed us a piece of ripped off notebook paper with the estimate on it and asked for a $1,000 deposit for a job that would be approximately $1,900. Because we had had such a difficulty time trying to find someone to do the job, we foolishly wrote a check for the $1,000 without a formal contract. Mr. Hedrick told us that he would start the job either Friday the 19th or Monday the 22nd. The check cleared our account on the 19th but we still had not heard from Mr. Hedrick. On Monday the 22nd, I texted Mr. Hedrick to ask when he planned to begin work. He responded that he had just gotten his phone back, that his brother was helping him on the job because he had a truck to carry the equipment and it shouldn't be much longer. I thanked him and told him we were getting nervous; he responded that there was no need to be nervous. On the 25th I texted Mr. Hedrick again asking for a start date. He stated that he had just messaged his brother and would get back to us as soon as he received a response. On Monday the 29th I texted Mr. Hedrick requesting our $1,000 deposit be returned as soon as possible and we would find another contractor to do the job: no response. I texted again on the 30th and received no reply. Mr. Hedrick did respond to BBB stating that he would contact us to remedy the situation; I responded that all we wanted was our money back. No response to BBB following this. My understanding was that at one time he was a very good contractor; such a shame that this is no longer the case."

"I contacted Morris Rossman of RAM construction to have some roof repairs and installation performed. Mr. Rossman and his son, Chris, were prompt in coming to my home and in providing a clear and affordable estimate for the work. Chris gave me a date for the repairs. Chris was prompt and professional and the work was performed in a timely manner. I paid Chris, and thought that we were done. We were not. A section of vented roof that Chris installed had a leak. I called Chris, and he said he would be by to repair. A few days later, Chris arrived and repaired what he thought was the leak. Several daya later, the same section leaked, but now there were two leaks. I called Chris, and he said he would be by to repair. A few days later, Chris arrived and repaired what he thought were the leaks. Several daya later, the same section leaked, but now there were THREE (!) leaks. I called Chris, and he said he would be by to repair. A few days later, Chris arrived and repaired what he thought were the leaks. Later in the day, it rained. And the repaired section leaked, worse than ever. I texted Chris (he does not have voice mail set up, nor does he ever respond to phone calls). Morris has not returned calls, either. I requested further repairs. I also told him that every time he visited the leak got worse. He told me to find someone else. And so I post this review. I will find someone else for the repair. So should you! Do NOT do business with RAM Construction."

Roof Ice and Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

It can be dangerous to remove icicles from your roof, so the best option is to treat the underlying issue instead, usually by ensuring proper insulation in your home. If you’re concerned about immediate damage, you can hire a professional to remove the icicles and the snow accumulation on your home to prevent the issue from recurring. Just make sure you use a long-term solution, too, like addressing insulation problems or installing roof heating coils on your roof.

The best way to save money on snow removal is to sign up for a seasonal contract that guarantees service throughout the entire winter. Most companies charge between $200 and $600 for this service, and they’ll often give you a break on the price if you extend annually. Of course, savings will depend on your area. If you live in a moderate climate where snowfall may or may not occur, you could pay more than you need during a light snow year. Still, it’s usually a safe bet to sign a seasonal contract.

You should check with your insurance provider, but generally, ice dam removal is not covered by insurance, as it’s considered a preventable issue. However, damage from ice dams may be covered by your policy, including roof collapses. In the case of leaks, your belongings may or may not be covered. If you can’t find specific information on ice dam removal in your policy, give the insurance company a call and find out.

It is not advisable to use salt on your roof to prevent or remove ice dams. It’s not only mostly ineffective but can also cause serious damage to your roof itself. Salt can rust metal, damage masonry, pit shingles, and cause runoff that’s damaging to plants and animals.

There is no hard and fast rule about using a snowblower on a specific amount of inches, but most snow removal experts suggest using one on 2 or more inches of snow for best results. This will also depend on what type of surface you’re working on and whether the snow is dry or wet.
