"These ladies stayed and helped with extra cleaning after they had had a very very long day. They were both gracious, polite and very kind. I will use them again in a heartbeat."

"I've been a customer of Craig Thomas for around 10 years.  I live in a heavily wooded area and there are lots of carpenter ants around.  Carpenter ants are always sending out scouts to look for a place for a new nest. I prefer to keep the ants away from my house and not wait to discover that they've done damage. Craig Thomas makes 4 visits a year and treats the foundation and inspects the house for any sign of ants.   Since we've started  this service, we haven't had any problems at all. The guys from Craig Thomas are professional and courteous.  They always show up at their scheduled time, so I don't waste time sitting around waiting for them.   Craig Thomas is a locally owned company and I prefer doing business with them over one of the big national chains."

"I don't know what I'd do without her. She cleans areas I didn't even realize were dirty. The tracks in my slider doors has never been so clean and the entry windows are done every time. Stains in my sinks were removed and look so shiny and new. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone."

"I am so pleased with the power washing job these guys did on my house. The north side had 15 years of lichens, moss and whatever else and it was a mess. The guys worked hard to get it cleaned off and it's now clean as a whistle as is the whole house. The customer service is over and above! I do not hesitate to recommend them!"

"I had an Absolutely Fantastic Experience!! My husband & I were so lucky to have gotten Jason Scharf to come out to our home, he was very insightful, helpful, courteous and very professional. Jason explained step-by-step what he was doing along the way & what would work best within our home with 4 different price ranges that would work for us. Jason was very informative. He mentioned and advised me on some items that would require attention on a monthly basis which I was grateful for. Upon completion, he reviewed the bill and explained any questions that I had. I was very pleased. Overall, Jason’s work was outstanding. I would recommend Jason from Astar to anyone I know that is in need of a central air system in their home. He was one of the kindest, funny and coolest Design Specialists by far. Thanks again Jason you're the Best! We can't wait for everything to be completed."

"Elite Painting is the way to go. All interactions with employees have been wonderful. In November of 2022 I hired Elite Painting to paint the inside of my home (about 4300 square feet) so I spent a lot of time around them. James completed a majority of the work and he did a great job! He also kept a clean work area, wore shoe coverings inside the home, and was a very hard worker. The owner is easy to communicate with and delivered on estimated timelines. Fast forward to May 2023 and I hired them again to paint the exterior trim of our home and front porch.. I was pleased with the service yet again. I recommend them to everyone looking for painters!"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

A deck that isn’t attached to a house is called a floating or freestanding deck. These standalone decks are built near ground level, so they usually don’t need deck stairs. Some don’t even require permits. Generally speaking, building a floating deck is faster and more DIY-friendly than constructing one that’s connected to your home.

Yes, you can draw your own deck plans in many cases. However, you must know your local building codes and be familiar with carpentry principles. Even then, it's always best to run your plans by a professional contractor with experience building decks, whether you choose to DIY some of the build or not.

Yes, you can build a pool deck yourself, but it takes precision, a lot of time, and many specific tools. You’ll need to create a deck plan, be careful with measurements, cut each piece of wood, secure the pieces properly, and ensure the deck meets building codes. Building a deck around a pool is a rewarding DIY, but it’s time- and labor-intensive, so thoughtfully consider your abilities and the time you have before embarking on this DIY.

Building codes for deck railings can vary by location, so it's important to consult your local regulations before construction. Generally, a guardrail is required for any deck that is more than 30 inches above the ground.

For residential properties, the standard minimum height for a deck railing is 36 inches. However, some states and municipalities have stricter requirements; for example, California and Washington mandate railings that are at least 42 inches high. Therefore, a 42-inch railing is not considered too high and may be required in your area or chosen voluntarily for additional safety.

In addition to height requirements, codes also specify other safety features, such as the maximum spacing between balusters to ensure they are close enough to prevent a child from squeezing through.

Yes, deck pier blocks can be used as an alternative to traditional deck footings, especially for smaller or low-to-the-ground decks. Unlike poured concrete and buried post footings, deck blocks do not require digging or pouring. However, their use is dependent on local building codes. Some areas, particularly those prone to high winds, earthquakes, or hurricanes, may not permit the use of deck pier blocks. It is essential to consult your local building codes before choosing them for your deck project.
