"I would highly recommend Chuck Pierce Jr at Pierce Services. They just finished work at a lakefront property for me in Cassadaga, Ny including backfilling around fkundation, site fill/prep and a new seawall. Itâ s gorgeous!!! "We had a concrete sidewalk, back patio and driveway pad prepped and poured to replace our flagstone areas. L&M Excavation did an expert job throughout the hot long workdays. There were plenty of obstacles to navigate with large equipment and loads of materials but everything was put back in order by the end of the job. Definitely would recommend this crew for your concrete projects."

"We have used TruDirt on 4 projects, including clearing, stone driveway construction, lawn reconstruction, storm drainage and subdrainage work. In all cases, they gave us quick, clear quotes, showed up and finished on time. When completed, they always clean up the sites nicely. The pricing was also very fair for each job. We are completely happy with TruDirt's work and would recommend them to anyone."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

When planning for land survey costs, you should consider the following elements as major contributors to the overall cost:

  • Size of your property in terms of acres or square feet

  • Complexity of the terrain in terms of hills, elevation changes, rocks, water, and other features

  • Type of survey you need (boundary survey, topographic survey, or a combination of survey types)

  • Distance traveled for the professional surveyor

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.

Surveys completed by licensed surveyors can be recorded with a local surveying records office, and in most cases, they will be. Filing survey reports categorize them as legal documents, and they can be used whenever legal documentation of your property’s boundaries is needed. While you’re not required to file survey documents, it’s a good idea to do so.

With proper training and experience, reading blueprints is fairly straightforward and not very difficult. If you don’t have the necessary knowledge to interpret the symbols, abbreviations, and other notations used, blueprints may not make sense. Learning to read blueprints can help you understand the construction process and keep you more involved and informed when you’re building a house.

A land survey defines and records the physical aspects of a property, including its boundaries, dimensions, easements, features, and sometimes topographical information. In contrast, a land appraisal determines the property's monetary value. While an appraiser will often consult a land survey to understand the property's physical specifications, the survey itself does not determine the land's value.
