"Derek repaired the skirting on the entire front of my doublewide. Damage caused by the winter snow sliding off the roof. He is very professional and detailed and very polite, which is not very common these days. He cleaned up the area when the job was finished. "Michaelâ s Logging came through in a pickle situation. We had part of an old huge sugar maple fall onto our property. Much of the tree that was still standing was compromised and in danger of falling onto the house. We called Michaelâ s Loggjng and they were able to arrive the very same day of the estimate to remove the tree. They worked a total of 8 hours, carefully cutting the high limbs using a cherry picker bucket. They protected the lawn, carefully mulched, seeded when they were finished. They left requested firewood and hauled the rest. Friendly service as well. We recommend Michaelâ s Logging for your tree removal."

"They came and removed a very large maple tree from my backyard. Got here around noon and started right away. Worked through three rain events nonstop. I have a shed, garage and fence all within close proximity of the tree. They were very careful and no damage done. Took all wood and blew out the remaining wood chips and sawdust from back yard and driveway. 9 hours to complete removal and clean up. Only one helper for such a large project. Very impressed with their work ethics. Equipment A-1. I already recommended them to a family member who needs tree service. The price was way better than 2 other estimates I got quotes from."

On grafted trees, tree suckers will grow from the root stock, not the branches grafted onto it. Therefore, the leaves and characteristics of the suckers aren’t the same as the tree because they are different varieties. Root stock has more hardiness, strength, or drought tolerance than its grafted limbs, so if the suckers are from fruit or flowers, it might be different than the main part of your tree.

We don’t recommend DIY tree trimming for a few different reasons. First, the tools required to trim a tree can be costly, up to $1,100 or more, for the ladders and specialized saws needed. 

Safety is another concern, especially when working with more mature trees. As a guideline, you should only DIY tree trimming when branches are less than two inches in diameter. Any more, and the safety risk becomes too high, which could lead to catastrophe. For this job, it’s safest to let a tree-trimming professional assess the work needed.

You’ll want to have your palm trees trimmed during the spring, ideally in May, before hurricane season sets in, which generally takes place during the late summer. Palm trees grow fastest over the summer months. You’ll also want to trim your palm trees when you notice:

  • Brown fronds 

  • Dry leaves

  • Flower pods

  • Fruit

  • Fronds overgrown in power lines

  • Frond encroaching upon your neighbor’s home or yard 

  • Visible damage from a storm

Unfortunately, palm tree stumps are one of the most difficult types to remove due to how their roots grow. Unlike other trees, palm tree roots grow horizontally and vertically. Palm tree roots grow as deep as three feet into the ground, although soil and growing conditions could mean they go as far as 50 inches into the earth. 

If you want to be able to repurpose the grass in the area where you removed a stump later, you’ll have to dig quite deep—and perhaps wide—to trim away all the roots.

Depending on the severity of the damage, a tree might continue healing for years after a split or a break. Saplings can usually bounce back in the spring in one or two seasons, but larger trees might take a few years to regain their former strength. If your tree is showing strong growth and is not dropping limbs, you can consider it healed after the first two seasons.
