First, power washers are expensive, and you can avoid high upfront costs by hiring a deck washing pro instead. Second, you must be careful to use the correct setting to avoid damaging your deck material. You can only clean soft woods like pine with a wide spray and a low pressure; otherwise, the water will leave unpleasant marks on your deck. Vinyl, composite, or metal siding can hold up to the heat and pressure of occasional power washing, but materials like brick, stucco, wood, and painted materials may get damaged from the high-pressure water. For sensitive materials, consider a soft wash instead of a pressure wash.

You should wait until your pavers have completely dried and cured before pressure washing them. Wait at least three to five days, though some sealants may need up to an entire week. Rushing that timeline can mess with the finish, weaken the seal, or leave streaks that are tough to fix. Once the sealant has fully set, stick to a gentle approach. Keep the pressure under 1,500 PSI and hold the nozzle at least two feet from the surface. Anything stronger or closer can blast the joint sand loose or wear down the sealant you just applied.
