"I had a very positive experience with Rost Construction this summer. During the heavy July Rains, our large skylight began leaking. I needed to get the skylight repaired as soon as possible, but was having trouble getting contractors to return my call. One contractor did come out and measured the skylight, but did not offer to correct the immediate situation until I would commit to his bid. I then called Rost construction. Jakob Rost answered the call himself and asked fact finding questions. Jakob sent out one of his associates, Jack, the next morning. After an initial review, Jack returned and found an old nail in the skylight flashing. He was able to make the repair without changing out the skylight. Of all the contractors I contacted (at least five), Rost construction was the only company that displayed a sense of urgency and a high level of competence. It is without hesitation that I recommend Rost construction for your project"

"I contacted Jimmy for a roof estimate before closing on the house.
Jimmy sent me back the estimate in a timely manner which helped me get the proper credit.
After closing, I interviewed a few other contractors and decided to go with Jimmy because I felt comfortable
with the way he communicated his recommendations and his promptness.
As with any job, there were a few things that came up during the renovation but I must say, the level of communication was
everything I could ask for.
I was especially glad I picked Jimmy because I reside in NYC (3 hours away) and couldn't be present all the time.  Needless to say,  good communication was very important.
Jimmy finished the job within the time frame promised.   I asked him to do a couple of other things after completion
and he finished those in time for my new tenants move date.
Though I didn't gave Jimmy a specific budget.  He did meet my expectations with regard to the budget I set for myself.
Overall, I am very happy with the results and will most definitely contact him first for any future jobs."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

While it is possible to build a wooden carport yourself, especially if you are skilled in carpentry, professional construction is recommended. Professionals ensure structural integrity, proper anchoring, correct alignment, and the use of quality materials for a stable and durable result.

The primary parts of a house that need framing during construction are floors, exterior walls, interior walls, and the roof. The framing in these areas provides the skeleton for adding other materials over the top. With walls, for example, contractors can hang drywall over the interior walls and siding over the outside of the exterior walls. Proper framing ensures a sturdy house that is built to last.

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

You can enclose an open carport, however, there are several things to consider before opting to do so. You'll want to check local building codes and permit requirements before proceeding to make sure it’s legal. While you can sometimes stick-frame a carport enclosure, pre-fab kits are also available. Remember that you'll likely need to meet concrete slab regulations and provide lighting inside the structure. Both of which could substantially drive up costs.
