"We hired him to paint the interior of our home, including walls, ceilings, and trim, and he did a fantastic job. He was very communicative throughout the entire process, professional at all times, and made sure everything was completed exactly when we requested. The quality of his work exceeded our expectations, and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and high-quality painting services."

"Howard Painting responded quickly when I called to ask for an estimate. I had two bathrooms that had to have the ceilings, walls, and cupboards painted. I had the estimate within 24 hours, and scheduled the day for the project to begin. They arrived on time, worked efficiently, we're extremely professional, completed the job in a timely manner and made sure everything was cleaned up before they left. I was very very happy with the results! I will be booking my next project with Howard Painting as soon as I figure out what room is next. Thank you TK and Ray for making my day, and turning two somewhat dark bathrooms into nice bright and clean areas."

"These two professionals cleaned our basement and coal stove in one hour. They meticulously vacuumed and mopped the whole basement and it looks amazing! I couldn’t have done it without them. They definitely went above and beyond."

Painting questions, answered by experts

While the answer varies based on weather, 10 a.m. is a good time to start painting. The dew will have dried, meaning there’s no moisture on the house, and the temperature will likely be moderate and the sunlight less direct. Starting mid-morning should also give you enough daylight and pleasant weather to work on the job for several hours.

You can weather a new wood fence by applying vinegar with steel wool as a way to fade some of the coloring. You may also find it easier to stain your entire fence a new color instead of trying to get newer fence boards to match an older one.

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

A dry lawn is easier to edge than a wet one. When your ground is wet, your blades will likely clump together, making a seemingly even cut while wet, but an uneven disaster when dried. Also, a wet lawn can impact your blade's performance and cause mud to kick up, resulting in a messy finish.
