Small jobs welcome

"I was faced with the perfect storm of a failed sewer line that led to need to replace foundation wall, install a new retaining wall and pour a new sidewalk. After speaking with a number of contractors, Staats was an easy choice. Serena and Bo from start to finish displayed a level of integrity, professionalism and care that I haven't experienced from another contractor. This was a long project, complicated and caused considerable stress and anxiety. Bo and Serena kept in close communication, answered my myriad questions promptly, always giving me a sense of confidence. In finishing the work they paid attention to detail and went above and beyond in assuring I was comfortable with the final product, which looks amazing, a neighbor immediately tried to hire them and my neighbors walking by remark on how great everything looks. I can't recommend Staats highly enough, and they will certainly be my first call if I have any masonry questions or needs in the future. Again, can't Bo and Serena enough!"

"My wife said we needed to build a wall, and that I was going to pay for it. So I called Aidan, and his team built me a tremendous 48' wall in my backyard. It is a beautiful wall. Prompt communication, good work, and a fair price. Great!"

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

Yes, including patterns, finishes, and plant integration for aesthetic enhancement.

To maintain the integrity of your landscape, a retaining wall must be installed if the slope of the angle exceeds 35 degrees. The lean of the wall must be 1 inch per 12 inches in height to disperse the weight of the soil uniformly and guarantee the correct drainage of the soil.

Yes, to build a retaining wall, a permit is required. Similarly, any repairs or modifications to an existing retaining wall require permits. If the planned wall measures higher than 4 feet, most municipalities require designs and permits come through a licensed engineer. In some locations, if the wall is shorter than 4 feet, a permit may not be required. For the requirements in your area, contact your local government.

Rebar is a steel support that goes inside concrete to prevent structural damage over time. Concrete is susceptible to impact, weight, and tension. By inserting rebar into the concrete during the installation, you can help extend its lifespan and avoid hazardous situations where the foundation of your home gives way to tensile forces.

Small retaining walls still require a foundation of some kind, typically a concrete footing. This helps to ensure the wall is structurally sound and prevents the ground from shifting over time, especially during those winter freeze/thaw cycles. The footing helps spread the weight of the wall and the load it carries over a larger area of the ground, thus assisting with stability. This is true of small retaining walls, larger rock garden walls, and the like.
