"His scheduling takes a while if you sre are a small job you are put I believe between the larger jobs the power washing on the cabin was good the young man had an attitude on the deck and retaining wall not so good. The staining on the cabin was great the paint on the deck on the spindles was sloppy the wood on the deck that was replaced one piece as a 2 inch hole another is buckling others should have been replaced but were not The first day he sent two carpenters here they ran out of wood so they went home early. While staining the cabin one one the workers broke a light fixture that runs through out the outside They did not cover one part of the screened porch so the screen has stain on it I got a lot of BS about replacing the glass cylinder the next day he showed up with a cheap replacement from Home Depot? … oh the replacement glass was coming in two weeks. He left a pile of garbage from the deck and gave me another story about how he would be doing a job close to my house in 2 weeks and would bring the broken glass for the light and do me a favor and take the garbage because his guy would charge 300dollars to take it……. I’m still waiting…… I could have held some money back but that is not my way He did pick up the phone when I called and he did answer my messages I think Anthony tried a lot did address some of my concerns. But there was slot of BS along the way. His workers we very polite would I use him again. I think not"

"Maria and her team were very professional and courteous. They worked well together and hardly ever took breaks. This team hand brushed the entire house and it looks great. Clean-up was well done too. Maria was one of the only painters in the area that was willing to work us into her very busy schedule. She knew we had a very strict timeline and the job had to be finished quickly (we had renters arriving). Despite all the rain we had last week and an unfortunate personal issue, they got the job done just in time. I'm grateful for Maria and her team and their diligence. We would recommend this team and would definitely hire them again. Thanks Maria!

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

If you want to achieve a deeper, darker stain color, wait 5 to 10 minutes before wiping it off. However, wipe it off faster for a lighter tone. When wiping off the stain during this part of the process, be sure to work in the direction of the wood’s grain for best results.

Staining a deck with a rag is typically a better option than using a brush, as it helps the stain penetrate deeper into the wood. However, both brushes and rags are best reserved for detailed work because using these tools on an entire deck can require tediously crawling around on your hands and knees. A pad applicator, sprayer, or roller are preferred alternatives to applying stain over the majority of a deck. Use a rag for railings and other detailed work, and let the wood soak up as much of the stain as possible before wiping away drips or pools.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

The best way to protect a deck is to prevent damage from UV light, water, mold, mildew, insects, and abrasive cleaning methods. Sweep regularly to prevent debris that hides bugs and traps moisture that can result in mold or mildew growth. Use a deck cleaner once a year to remove algae, mold, and mildew. Avoid using pressure washers on high, as they can damage the wood. Applying a deck sealant can protect the wood from UV and water damage, and adding shade can also reduce sunlight damage.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.
