"Great job. Guys were professional and friendly. I was lucky enough to get same day service. They explained all that was done and why. Clean up, best they could when working with concrete. I would hire this company again without hesitation."
"I had cement crumbling away from some of the brickwork on house. I had What The Brick Masonry come. They repaired all the cracks. Also checked my chimney and repaired areas there with new cement also. It was a very small job, but it wasn’t something I could do myself. I was very satisfied with the work done. Impressed me that they got back to me the same day I requested them. Also impressed they came the next day to get work done. If I need any more work done I would definitely hire them again!!!!! "Well it has been many years since we hired a professional such as Romeo. Honest, efficient with strong work ethics. Great respect to our property and our neighbors. An absolute pleasure. Made our dreams of a sound patio a reality. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Alma & Laura"
"This company was fantastic. During one of the worst rain and melting snow situations we've had in years in WNY I couldn't believe how prompt they were during a crazy time. Kyle came and did an estimate within an hour of my speaking to him and had his guys there the next day to complete the project. Super professional, I would recommend these guys to anyone. I'll be using them in the future."
"Sean & his son & crew did a great job with the landscaping in our backyard after we had a hot tub installed. He came up with suggestions on putting in pavers next to the hot tub and concrete pads in the back. He went above and beyond as we added things to the project and he came through with economical ways to complete the additions that we asked for. He even suggested using the extra pavers to make an area for the garbage can. They were professional, courteous and took care to clean up after themselves. I would recommend using him for your landscaping project. Thanks Sean!"
"I wanted a raised garden that wrapped the front of my house but didnt have the 10-12 grand to pay to have it all done. They were flexible with me and I took on the task of building the wall myself. They dug out the original mess of garden there before, set a strong base for my wall, and delt with the drainage that would later be directed through my wall. I built the wall and they came back and filled it in for me to finish it up. The flexibility and communication back and forth was phenomenal and just talking back and forth and learning new things was awesome. Finaly product came out great!!! (Unfortunately Won't let me upload photos)"
"Excellent company!! Tony, the owner, came out to do the estimate himself, and his professionalism and thoroughness in describing the work to be done (backyard drainage), and the benefits of using his company, ultimately won me over. The price was more than fair and his crew was top notch and completed the work on schedule. I highly recommend!!!"
You should use cement for a chimney crown. The purpose of the chimney crown is to protect the mortar below from water damage and the effects of weather. For this reason, chimney crowns should only be made using cement. When repairing a crown, use caulks and sealants designed for cement repair rather than mortar repair.
Costs range from $3,500 to $15,000, depending on material, labor, and design complexity.
Unfortunately, there are many disadvantages to stone houses. They are slow to build and the materials are pricey, both of which balloon the total cost. Stone walls require a more robust foundation, which costs more to install. Running plumbing, electrical, and HVAC through a stone house is much more difficult too, so homeowners need to seriously consider if the aesthetic benefit is worth the cost of building with stone. One of the questions to ask a masonry contractor is if a similar aesthetic can be achieved with another material.
The cost of masonry work varies widely depending on the type of masonry along with common cost factors like size, complexity, location, and season. Most exterior masonry work done in freezing temperatures tends to cost more because of the preparation and protection involved to keep the masonry from freezing before the mortar cures properly. The average price ranges per project or square foot for different types of masonry include:
Brick wall (fence, garden wall, etc.): $10–$45 per square foot
Natural stone wall: $40–$110 per square foot
Manufactured stone veneer: $20–$40 per square foot
There are many things to look for when buying a brick house. Here are some of the key things you should pay close attention to.
Lintels: Look for cracks, holes, displacement, or corrosion
Mortar: Check to see if the mortar is old and crumbling, in need of repointing, or new. Also check to see if the mortar has a professional finish.
Walls: Check along each side of the house. If a wall is bowing outward, this indicates a severe issue such as foundation damage or that the walls are ready to fall.
Cracks: If there are stair step cracks in the brickwork, this indicates an unstable foundation.
