"This was a demolition project for mold and water damage from a broken pipe. Brandon Jones worked with insurance company and we paid nothing out of pocket. All workers were exceptionally helpful during a very stressful event resolution."

"I had a mold infestation throughout my crawl space after a hot water line burst, ripping through the air ducts and flooding the entire area. Initially, I went with a restoration company that the plumbers recommended. That company basically just sprayed some chemicals and left within a few hours, charging me several thousand dollars for the “service”. The mold came back almost immediately, so I decided to do my own research and that’s when I found OnPoint Restoration. JR and Christian came out to my house, assessed the situation, explained to me exactly what we were working with and how long it would take to fix the issue. They were upfront about the costs and finished the job with no hidden fees or any other surprises that are all too typical of other companies. They even threw in a free duct cleaning at the end. I highly recommend them to anyone who is in need of mold remediation. They are genuinely good people, and genuinely good at what they do. You will not be disappointed!"

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Excessive humidity in a room often manifests through visible signs like condensation on windows or walls, a musty or damp odor lingering in the air, peeling wallpaper or paint, and the presence of mold or mildew. Experiencing discomfort due to a consistently clammy or sticky feeling can also indicate high humidity levels.

Water damage always poses a primary risk of mold and mildew, but growth is not guaranteed. The chances of mold developing depend on several factors, including the severity of the damage and how quickly the area is cleaned and dried. To prevent mold, you must act quickly—ideally within the first 24 hours. Clean up all water and thoroughly dry the affected area. If the damage is extensive, you were unable to address it immediately, or you suspect mold has already started to grow, it is best to assume it is present and hire a professional mold inspector or removal expert to assess the situation.

Slime mold isn’t toxic to your dog, even if they eat it. Toxicity and comfort are two different things, and if you notice your dog eating slime mold, you should stop them, but not worry too much. Expect a period of gastrointestinal distress, and possibly some other complications, but your dog should be ok within a few days.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hazardous waste is generally classified into four main categories:

1. Characteristic Wastes: These exhibit at least one of four hazardous traits: ignitability (flammable, like gasoline), corrosivity (can rust or decompose materials, like car batteries), reactivity (unstable and can explode, like aerosol cans), or toxicity (harmful when ingested, like lead-based paint).

2. Listed Wastes: These are specific wastes from manufacturing and industrial processes that the EPA has officially designated as hazardous. They include byproducts from processes that use solvents, pesticides, and other chemicals.

3. Universal Wastes: These are commonly generated hazardous items that are subject to streamlined regulations. Examples include batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment (e.g., bulbs), and some lamps.

4. Mixed Wastes: This category includes waste that contains both hazardous and radioactive components, making it subject to regulation by both the EPA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Yes, exposure to fiberglass insulation can cause harm to your skin and eyes. However, this typically refers to the fiberglass insulation that is mostly used in walls and attics. Fiberglass doors don’t pose risks for fiberglass exposure because they're fully encased in polymer cladding.
