"I requested a quote at 7am and a rep called me within 5 minutes. He gave me a detailed explanation of my quote, promised same day service, and within an hour the repair folks were at my house. Found several oddball circumstances that needed correction, retrieved additional parts, and didn t upcharge. Jonny and Jason were very personable installers and did exceptional work. They had my hot water heater installed and running in just a few hours. I recommend Alpha and Omega for any plumbing job you have."

"Very prompt, actually early because of a cancellation. Replaced the thermostat on the water heater and cleaned the burner plate. We discussed installation of a tankless WH (cost, labor amount). Matt worked quickly and was done within a half hour."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

If you’re looking for a way to heat your home that is lower in cost and higher in efficiency, you should run the numbers to see what it would look like to switch to gas or electric heat. The best choice for how to heat your home depends on your location, budget, and energy priorities.

If you have a closed-system boiler that requires an expansion tank, you cannot safely operate it without one, as this risks extensive damage or even explosions. You must find a way to make room for the installation. Options include repositioning the boiler, rerouting the boiler piping to a more open area, or performing minor remodeling to create the necessary space. If you are unsure whether your boiler needs an expansion tank or how to best accommodate one, it's recommended to have a local heating service professional assess the situation. They can confirm the requirement and suggest the most practical solution.

While you’ll pay more upfront for a brand-new HVAC unit, you can save money in the long run. Here’s how to save on your new HVAC system:

  • When purchasing a high-efficiency system, your energy bills will be lower in the future.

  • You may be eligible for special offers from your local energy company.

  • Depending on the system, you may be eligible for HVAC rebates and tax credits.

  • Choose to replace your air conditioning unit and furnace simultaneously to save on labor and installation costs.

Overall, heating your home with an oil furnace tends to be less expensive than heating your home with an electric heating system. Oil heating systems stay warm for longer periods of time without drawing a constant electrical current to maintain a temperature. Plus, heating oil systems typically have a longer lifespan and lower price tag than their electrical counterparts, resulting in short- and long-term savings.

If you want a new boiler that’s going to help lower your fuel bills, you should buy one that has a high energy-efficiency rating. For example, a boiler that is rated “A” uses at least 90% of the energy created by the boiler. And in order to enjoy the best performance, it’s important to have it installed properly by a highly-rated tech.
