"We needed someone to install tile around the bathtub at an apartment unit we own. Joey at 2 Daughters Handyman came to the rescue. He quoted us a fair price based on what we could see. However, once he started the work other complications were discovered such as mold behind the existing wall. Joey and his crew were able to take care of each issue and charged us a fair amount for the extra work performed. We were very impressed with his willingness to get the job done in a timely manner. He even went to two or three places on his own to find the tile we wanted. We will definitely use 2 Daughters again and would recommend them to anyone needing his services.

Biohazard Remediation questions, answered by experts

No, it isn’t. This is one of those things that needs to be dealt with immediately because mold will spread at a rapid rate and can go from just one spot on the wall to a serious health risk in a matter of days. Prolonged exposure can be extremely dangerous, so any mold issues (or even suspected mold) need to be dealt with right away.

The CDC does not consider diatomaceous earth toxic to humans or animals, though it can cause skin, eye, and lung irritation when handled without PPE. It's important to note that non-food-grade diatomaceous earth can be toxic when handled or consumed, so homeowners should only purchase the food-grade option.

Inhaling smoke from burnt food can be harmful to your health. Smoke and strong odors released when food burns can cause respiratory distress, especially for people with health conditions like asthma or for pregnant people. Even for those without such sensitivities, burnt food smoke can cause lung inflammation and irritation when inhaled.

Deciding whether to use bleach or vinegar to eradicate mold on concrete is dependent on personal preferences, safety concerns, and the severity of the mold issue. Bleach is a powerful disinfectant that kills mold and its spores, but its strong fumes and potential health risks make it a more aggressive approach. It's generally a better option for handling outdoor concrete stains. White vinegar, however, is a safer and environmentally friendly option that can eliminate mold. Although it may take longer to show results, vinegar has a milder odor and is less likely to cause discoloration than bleach.

If you need mold remediation, you’re probably looking at a bill of a couple thousand dollars or more. Sometimes, though, your homeowner’s insurance policy may cover some or all of the costs of the remediation. If the black mold forms because of a covered event, such as a storm that damages your roof, and causes leaking or flooding in the basement, it’s possible the policy also covers mold remediation. It never hurts to ask your insurance company if it will cover the cost of black mold remediation.
