We are a full service company specializing in hands on service. We do everything from plans to final inspections; from new construction to remodeling. As we build & remodel, we document our work as it progresses by videos & digital photography.

"I was very pleased with the end product and thoroughly enjoyed working with John. John converted a bathroom into a laundry/work room that I wanted to be both useful and functional, but also attractive. The project was slightly more complicated than it may sound, because I wanted the plumbing connections maintained but hidden in the event that a future owner wants an additional bathroom again. In the middle of the project, the Santa Fe monsoon season began and we discovered a fairly significant roof leak. John dropped everything, examined the leak, obtained the parts for what turned out to be an incorrectly installed skylight, and fixed it. He also identified and advised on some other items that needed attention in our newly purchased home. Even with the extra work, John came in slightly under budget."

"Mannie is a wonderful respectful person, however, you have to keep on him to get the job done. He must find workers that want to work daily not when it's convenient for them (He had a hard time getting help) but when he did get help the work got done. Overall I would give him an 9 out of 10. The final product was clean, smooth, and his corners were excellent. I would recommend Mannie, however, you have to be ready to keep on him. NOTE: If he says 2 weeks plan on 4."

Customers say: Terrific value
44 years of experience

GMB was established in 1981 as a specialty-plastering firm. Our goal was to create a diversified organization that could afford clients the opportunity to benefit from a professional approach to construction handled on a personal level. This has been successfully accomplished by maintaining an annual volume, which is, measured enough to control, but large enough to offer our clients the competitive pricing necessary to maintain excellence in today’s marketplace. Our systems and procedures have been finely tuned to maximize efficiency and flexibility. GMB as a result has earned, a rock-solid reputation based on strong bonds with clients, architects, and designers, contractors and the trades who follow, and understand the value of service, and enjoy the pride of accomplishment. We have assembled a highly skilled and qualified team committed to personalize attention and quality results. Our client’s goals become our goals and we do whatever necessary to meet their expectations. We look forward to applying this philosophy and stability to work for you. With almost 30 years of experience G.M.B. can produce exquisite interior drywall, plastering finishes and exterior stucco and stucco coatings for your new or remodel home.

"Mike’s crew stuccoed our house in three and a half days in June 2021. However, they stuccoed our back door shut, got stucco all over the roof, yard, garden, & fencing. Not only that, but two of our lights weren’t working after they reinstalled them. We agreed on a time for his crew to come back and clean up, but they delayed, then no-showed. It wound up taking six weeks for Mike to send over a crew to clean up after the first one. During those six weeks, Mike put a lien on our house and threatened to foreclose. After he finally sent a crew to come clean up, his letter to remove the lien had the wrong information and wasn’t notarized. (It’s a legal document, you need to use the correct information. And according to the Santa Fe County Clerk, it must be notarized.) After way too much drama, we got another letter (with accurate numbers), got it notarized, I paid him, and then, FINALLY, we were done. The stucco looks good, we’ve even had compliments on it. However, I recommend you find someone more competent and professional, even if it costs a little more."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You should do a little bit of sanding between adding coats of mud. Knock down any ridges or significantly imperfect areas through sanding, which should help you apply the next coat of mud smoothly. If your first coat of mud is pretty smooth after it dries, a quick sanding is all you’ll need. Don’t forget to wipe away any dust after each sanding process.

It’s a pretty good idea to have drywall corners, also called drywall beading. Drywall is a pretty brittle material and corners tend to be rubbed up against it often. Rather quickly, the edges will start crumbling and you’ll need to replace the entire panel, or add beads on top and repaint the wall. Drywall beads—which are inexpensive—provide long-term support for the drywall and protect your investment.

Whether it’s better to screw or glue drywall depends on your specific budget and project timeline. Professional drywall installers are more likely to use screws and fasteners than adhesives, but it takes longer. But if you are DIYing your drywall installation, glue is a perfectly fine choice if you’re willing to pay extra for adhesive.

You can drywall an unheated garage because the material handles cold temperatures perfectly well. There are no risks or downsides to installing drywall in a garage that is not heated, and the material stands up to moisture and other elements quite well. Drywall will protect your unheated garage's electric wires and cables and add fire protection. However, for effective bonding, you should install drywall at a temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

It's generally recommended to hang drywall on the ceiling first before moving on to the walls. This sequence allows the ceiling sheets to provide support for the vertical wall sheets. By attaching the ceiling drywall initially, you establish a solid framework to align and attach the wall panels accurately. This method ensures a seamless and sturdy connection between the ceiling and walls, resulting in a more professional finish.
